Always wanted one as a kid but never did get one.
Wondering if any mumsnetters have one and how you got it? Grin

I had two - the original and the silver. Can't remember how I got the first one but the second was submitting a "how to" guide for making a 50s swing skirt for a barbie.

ScreamingValenta · 27/05/2018 01:21

I got mine in 1983 for writing to them @Mamaryllis - it was a very long, detailed letter, though (in my best handwriting Grin ).

dinodiva · 27/05/2018 05:50

I have one - like others for sending something in.

I also went to the relaunch party of the badge scheme in the mid 2000s (I worked for an attraction that allowed BP badge winners in). My inner 8 year old loved it - got to picnic in the BP garden, stroke the cat and see the presenters.

MindatWork · 27/05/2018 07:18

I’ve got one! I was on the show in the early 2000s with a youth theatre group - we performed a number from a show that was doing a short run in London. My grandma still has the video of it recorded off the tv 😂

pinkmagic1 · 27/05/2018 07:22

Dd has the regular and the silver badges. I can't tell you how jelous I am!

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 27/05/2018 07:28

You can still get BP badges?! I am seriously now considering waking the kids up to do something they can write to BP about so they can get one! (despite kids never having watched BP- you have just unleashed a huuuuge wave of nostalgia for me!)

I never had one despite my efforts, but my brother had one. My mum had one. I was insanely jealous of my brother, cant remember what it was he did, but I was green with envy and so were his classmates.

ShoeJunkie · 27/05/2018 07:30

I was a runner up in a competition to design a poster. I also got a pen as my prize.

Haudyerwheesht · 27/05/2018 07:52

Both my kids have them and we’ve got them into loads of places free. Ds was a runner up in a competition and dd .... err I think she drew portraits of the presenters

MyfavouriteCauliflower · 27/05/2018 08:45

My 10 year old has one, she sent in lots of things she written and drawn, she was so pleased to recieve a letter and badge, certificate etc in return ;-)

mrsglowglow · 27/05/2018 09:28

I have! I was a runner up in a Christmas stamp drawing competition in the 70s. I remember being so excited opening the letter from Sarah, Simon and John 😁 I won a set of special edition set of stamps as well.

Bippitybopityboo · 27/05/2018 10:31

Awww these are fab I have such a long wait for ds to want to send something In!

I have two, but they are only the 'competition winner' badges given to runners-up during the 1980s - not the proper badges that you get now. But i do still have the envelopes and letters that they sent to congratulate me on being a runner-up, and the special badge they gave to runners-up in the Mary Rose cake picture competition!

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 27/05/2018 10:40

I have one. I sent in an idea for a craft segment when I was a kid and they did it - showed my picture and everything.

Mines just the old style, white plastic in the shape of a shield with blue peter logo on it. I think I got sent a signed picture too, but I don't remember what happened to that (and I have a suspicion that the badge itself got nabbed by my sister, because it wasn't in my jewellry box when I picked it up from my parents recently (all the rest of the weird tat was, just the good bit missing!)

SendYouUpinFlames · 27/05/2018 11:08

Has anyone seen the diamond badges? Limited edition for 2018 only!

Ilovewillow · 27/05/2018 11:19

I think they are a little more free and easy with them now! My daughter has one and they do several different colours now representing different types of tasks. She has also applied for an anniversary one which is very sparkly! Sadly I didn't get one as a child!

Kintan · 27/05/2018 11:20

Our whole primary school class got one for burying a time capsule. It was sometime in the late eighties or very early nineties.

lostleonardo · 27/05/2018 11:28

I have two

A blue on white one got writing a poem about a cat (it may have been slightly plagiarised 🤫)

And a white on green environmental one for leading a litter picking scheme at school

I can't wait for my kids to start getting into BP

Gingerninj · 27/05/2018 11:39

DD got a green one a few years ago for taking part in redoing the school garden

JamesDelayneysTattoos · 02/06/2018 17:45

sendyouupinflames Dd has recently received her diamond badge. She waited much longer than for other badges as there are so many applicants. She’s BP mad so was thrilled
