To ask about leggings for DD?

polsha · 26/05/2018 23:34

DD wears black leggings almost every day, she is 8 and for the past 3 or so years we have bought them in NEXT. The last couple of pairs though haven't been anywhere near as good quality as usual. Thinner, slightly see through, not so well fitting and wearing much quicker then previous pairs.

Does anyone know where I can get decent leggings?

I find Sainsburys TU leggings pretty good, my girls live in leggings and those are quite hardy.

BetterEatCheese · 27/05/2018 09:32

I love H&M leggings. They wash and wear well and seem to be indestructible

noenergy · 27/05/2018 10:03

I found the quality of the the Next ones to be rubbish, very thin. Primary and Asda seem to be the best. And cheapest. Both my DDs only wear leggings, won't wear jeans or anything else, think it's a comfort thing

Beamur · 27/05/2018 10:08

I got my DD some from Primark for school to wear under a summer dress, actually pretty decent for £2.50. I'd otherwise recommend Lands End ( online & catalogue) their leggings are really good.

LawDegreeBarbie · 27/05/2018 10:11

Another vote for H&M. Cheap, thick and virtually indestructible for my girls 9 and 7.

Shednik · 27/05/2018 10:11

H&M are my favourite

Zeze247 · 27/05/2018 10:14

Zara

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 27/05/2018 10:21

H&M ones should last well!

Tenpenny · 27/05/2018 10:42

H&m ones are great, my dd lives in their leggings too, wears a black thicker pair for school

French2019 · 27/05/2018 10:51

I wouldn't recommend the primark ones at all. Very poor quality.

We used to like the Next ones too, but they have definitely changed. Will have a look in H&M next time I'm there, as dd also lives in black leggings. Smile

polsha · 27/05/2018 11:04

Thanks, I will try H&M and Zara, see how she does with those. Primark we have had before and I don't rate them at all they are really thin and poor quality, same with ASDA you can see through them!

My DD since about the age of 9 has worn New Look Teen leggings (915 range). They come in a pack of 2 black only and are £12.99 for two, very reasonable.

InkSnail · 27/05/2018 11:11

John Lewis

MipMipMip · 27/05/2018 11:16

I really like Sports Direct's Miso high waisted ones. And I don't like wearing leggings so that's saying something! Not sure if they do a kids version but I'm guessing they do.

Luisa27 · 27/05/2018 11:19

Boden girls leggings are fabulous - superb quality, beautiful colours/ designs. and last forever!
£12 - £14 approx, but worth every penny - they wash beautifully and can be passed on to younger siblings Smile
Like Zara too

Jammiebammie · 27/05/2018 11:22

My dd is the same, black leggings every day.
I thought similar with next leggings actually - my absolute favourite now are river island leggings for her - she’s a real skinny Minnie which is why I liked the next ones, but the new turnover ones from river island are really slim fitting and come up quite high, so no builders bum.
She has loads of other pairs but I find I wash and she wears these ones more often than any others - they are the thickest I’ve found anywhere, besides the pointe type which my dd just won’t wear at all.

Perfectly1mperfect · 27/05/2018 11:25

I always buy them from next, never had any problems. Are you buying them big enough ?

Tiredtomybones · 27/05/2018 11:54

M&S - the packs of 5 work out quite reasonable per pair. They are thick, brushed cotton this season. True to size and wash well.

Teenagemaw · 27/05/2018 11:55

H&m or nike leggings

polsha · 27/05/2018 12:03

Yes. I have bought them for at least 3 years. They have changed.

I have ordered a pair from M&S, a pair from ZARA and am going to go into H&M and get a pair from there to try.

Couldn't find any plain black on the River Island or John Lewis sites, New Look and Sainsbury's are showing out of stock. Lands End only do 8-9 or 10-12 and she needs a 9-10! I have skipped Boden just now as they are £14 plus £4 postage, but will keep them in mind in case none of the others work!

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions Grin

Asda and Peacock's

polsha · 27/05/2018 22:36

Just ordered 2 pairs from peacocks. ASDA i have found to be really thin Sad

Lands End only do 8-9 or 10-12 and she needs a 9-10

Lands End tend to be very much on the large side. My eldest (completely average in terms of height and weight etc) is 10.5 and I've just done a big Lands End order. She wears an 8-9 as the 10-12 is enormous! The actual sizing guide on their website gives heights for the sizes and these tend to be true size guides in my experience. My middle DD is 9 but she's very petite and so wears 6-7 in Lands End!

Jammiebammie · 30/05/2018 07:48

Would you mind letting me know what you think of the leggings you’ve ordered please @polsha?

these are my absolute favourite for dd from river island, she also has these and these but the fold over ones are by far the best. They often have 20% off days and free delivery so keep an eye out.

That’s interesting to know about the lands end sizing with leggings @nobodyknowstiddlypom - that’s out me off ordering before but I’ll know to size down now too.
