Apart from the fact that it's obviously disgustingly racist (and my uncle has just been swiftly deleted off Facebook for sharing it)... I don't get the point that they're trying to make?!

I don't see it as racist.

I see it as making the point that if you are a white western woman you have legal access to services that can help you with an unwanted pregnancy.

Women from other cultures don't necessarily have the same options and may end up having larger families which they don't necessarily want or can afford.

Because it's plainly obvious it is a racist cartoon I'm just not sure what the illustrators point was EXACTLY. Plus it's not the first time he's shared these things and I'm in a bad mood and thought oh fuck off...

It's not racist, it's making the point that not all women have the right to control their own reproduction.

If I saw it I'd assume it was along the lines of "coming over here, taking advantage of our free healthcare, having kids they can't afford and then living off our government" and would likely delete them. Also the Vote No comment would add to that.

It is racist if you read the text at the bottom. Its saying that while white women are having abortions, WOC are popping kids out, aka Ireland wont be a "white country" anymore (despite the fact that Ireland is pretty heavily lacking in much ethnic diversity but whatever).

I would read it as claiming that if abortions are legal, the white women will have them but others won't, thus leading to the country becoming increasingly less white.

It's horribly racist and sexist - it basically says we need to force white women to have babies in order to avoid being overrun by other "demographics" as it refers to them.

No all women in all countries can access an abortion well not safely anyway.

Looking at the picture alongside the text, my interpretation of it is that white people will have abortions and WOC will continue having children, meaning that Ireland will no longer be a ‘white’ country if abortions are allowed? I could be wrong though.

It’s definitely racist. It’s a ‘Vote No’ cartoon (read the text at the bottom), so it implies if abortion is legalised in Ireland, all the white babies will be aborted and the country will be overrun by ‘those bloody immigrants/blacks/muslims’.

The caption is “demographics are destiny”. Ofcourse this is racist. It’s saying whilst white women are having abortions, the women of colour and Muslims are having babies, so eventually there’ll be more of them than white. I guess it’s for what’s happening in Ireland about abortions atm.
