To try and get a refund?

Basically l got massively overcharged for two tickets l just bought to a gig in November - the site was full of hurry, hurry, hurry flashing messages and ticking count down wotsits and made it look as if there were only a few left, then stuck a £22 service charge on each ticket at the checkout. I paid because DS loves this band and it's their last tour but when l had a look at another website afterwards they were about £70 cheaper for the same sort of seats ( without all the add-ons and mysterious service charges) Angry

AIBU to ask if there's anything l can do or is it just hard luck and be more careful next time ... l can't resell the tickets unless l do it via the site l bought them from and they take a cut and keep the serice fees so that won't help me much - l'm just so pissed off l let them panic me into paying loads extra!

Sorry, but I think you'll have to just chalk this one up to experience.

purplecorkheart · 18/05/2018 18:29

Unlikely they will refund you. Was it tm? I had similar happen to me. Is the other site a legit site?

UsedtobeFeckless · 18/05/2018 18:34

Viagogo - they were top of the list when l googled ... How do l find out if they're real or not!

OP posts:
araiwa · 18/05/2018 18:36

Youre stuffed

You paid extra for difficult to obtain tickets.

People like you keep them in business

notoriousnames · 18/05/2018 18:41

NEVER EVER EVER use Viagogo! And good luck if you ever want a response from them. Google them

Yacka · 18/05/2018 18:42

Unfortunately viagogo is a secondary site which sells inflated tickets. They are not an official site and they will actually be selling someone else's ticket that they don't want.

Sorry that isn't what you wanted to hear. Always use ticketmaster or eventim as they are official.

All I can suggest is looking on the real sites for tickets and seeing if viagogo will re sell your tickets and hopefully the difference I'm price will still be better than nothing.

Hth

Rockingthestocking · 18/05/2018 18:46

Slayer? Be worth every penny.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 18/05/2018 18:54

We bought tickets for an event from Viagogo - yes the price was inflated but we would never have got tickets otherwise and were prepared to pay. Had no problems getting in or anything. They are legit.

somewhereovertherain · 18/05/2018 18:56

Chalk it up to experience and an expensive mistake not to make again.

UsedtobeFeckless · 18/05/2018 19:01

It is Slayer! Grin
So Viagogo are legit but bastards? I was wondering if l could stop the card payment - a mate at work thinks there is a 7 day cooling-off period on card payments - but by the time l get it sorted out the event will probably have sold out anyway so l'm buggered. But on the up side DS gets his Reign Of Blood happy times!

I would want the cheaper tickets in place first though just in case..

Happinesss · 18/05/2018 19:05

You won’t get a refund.

Your have to chalk it up to experience.

Paie · 18/05/2018 19:06

Friend used viagigo and they never turned up...they still went to the gig and took printouts of emails and pleaded with the doorman...who let them in for free...they were later refunded via credit card so literally got the gig entirely for free!

UsedtobeFeckless · 18/05/2018 19:27

God - just had a look at some of the links - they do sound awful! DP just got 2 cheaper tickets from See tickets - he said it's not worth all the worry waiting for them to turn up or not ... l'll try and stop the payment and if l can't l'll resell them and treat it as a gullibility tax! Sad

@Usedtobefeckless wondering how you got on with your tickets in the end? I’ve bought tickets with the same company recently and getting a bit worried now.

Sitranced · 27/11/2018 19:24

You'll never get a refund from Viagogo they're legal crooks.

UsedtobeFeckless · 28/11/2018 00:30

hohocabbage l did get my money back in the end! If anyone else needs to force a refund out of the bastards here's how ...
First ask the cheating gits Viagogo for a refund. They say no. Then you raise a disputed payment claim with your credit card company. You can do this with debit cards too, contact your bank/building society for the number to call. This puts the money into limbo while you sort out the next bit -

Next copy and paste all the bits about third party sellers and how tickets bought from them aren't valid that you will find in the small print of the venue and legit outlet terms and conditions. Send these to the card payment dispute people. Wait several weeks - money back!

Slayer were epic! Good times all round!

OP posts:
UsedtobeFeckless · 28/11/2018 00:34

The card dispute chaps don't care that the prices are vastly inflated but if you can show Viagogo sold you tickets that the venue won't honour ( the terms & conditions are generally pretty clear on this ) they will refund you ...

Hurrah for happy endings!

UsedtobeFeckless · 28/11/2018 00:36

I bought tickets off viagogo, I didn't realise they were just a selling platform for people to see their tickets. I paid way over the odds and then panicked when I realised what viagogo was and I started reading about them.

However the tickets I bought were uploaded by the seller a few days later, and I couldn't go in the end so I put them back up for sale on viagogo someone bought them and they must have been fine because a week or so after the event took place I got the money from the sale.

Maybe I was just lucky, but I'll do my research next time an not panic buy when all tickets are sold out!

Hohocabbage · 28/11/2018 06:59

I have tickets through them for upcoming gigs. Is there any reason why I won’t get in to the concert? They were bought the day the tickets went on sale. I mean, I get the inflated price bit but are lots of people not actually getting to go to the concert they bought tickets for?
Confused

Hohocabbage · 28/11/2018 07:00

Glad it worked out for your OP Smile

Spam88 · 28/11/2018 07:33

@Hohocabbage depends who you're going to see. Some artists have really clamped down on this. On Ed Sheeran's recent tour for example, they weren't allowing people in with tickets that had been resold. In this instance, they were cancelling tickets when people presented with them, then selling them legitimate tickets and advising how to claim a refund on their dodgy tickets - so no one was actually turned away as long as they had the money available to buy new tickets...
