Basically l got massively overcharged for two tickets l just bought to a gig in November - the site was full of hurry, hurry, hurry flashing messages and ticking count down wotsits and made it look as if there were only a few left, then stuck a £22 service charge on each ticket at the checkout. I paid because DS loves this band and it's their last tour but when l had a look at another website afterwards they were about £70 cheaper for the same sort of seats ( without all the add-ons and mysterious service charges) Angry

AIBU to ask if there's anything l can do or is it just hard luck and be more careful next time ... l can't resell the tickets unless l do it via the site l bought them from and they take a cut and keep the serice fees so that won't help me much - l'm just so pissed off l let them panic me into paying loads extra!

I would never use viagogo or getmein. They are both overpriced resale sites.

Ticketmaster or twickets are the two I would use.

Thanks Spam. I had zero idea I was buying resold tickets, thought it was just same as ticketmaster

One of the challenges with the secondary ticket sites is that often tickets have the original purchaser's name on, and some venues check ID against the tickets, so worth clarifying with your venue whether they'll be doing this.

There are various reasons not to use them - they hoik the prices sky-high. They don't actually have the tickets you've paid for - they are just acting as a broker for a third party who may or may not come through with them before the gig. If they don't you get a refund ( in theory, minus their handling fee ) but you've still missed your night out ... Also some venues simply don't accept re-sold tickets, you have to show the card you paid with at the door and if it doesn't match you get turned away. Google them for horror stories!

Thinking back over my last gigs in the venue im going to, ive never been asked for any id or had a name checked. fingers crossed. When i google their site comes up above ticketmaster, i dont think its clear its different at all!

That's how they suck people in - they look like a genuine site ...
