Back by popular demand... we're all this together now!

Original thread: I think my friend should pay, she thinks we should split it?http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/3240864-i-think-my-friend-should-pay-she-thinks-we-should-split-it

you have nothing to feel guilty about, you were prepared to help her and take her to have her surgery but didn't want to be out of pocket for it and loose a day of annual leave, which is fair enough, this is on her not you

Gemini69 · 02/06/2018 13:05

let's be honest... the fact she couldn't pick up the phone and call another 'Friend' to accompany her on this journey.. leaving herself in alot of debt.. speaks volumes.. Hmm

She's obviously shit on a lot of friendships during her lifes path Flowers

Imchlibob · 02/06/2018 21:25

You do not have the tiniest thing to be guilty about. If she genuinely cancelled just because of your refusal to be a doormat then she is an absolute idiot - she could have paid someone a couple of hundred quid to be her companion for the day and all would have been fine.

I suspect that in actuality she got cold feet at the last minute and decided she didn't want the surgery at all, and was able to conveniently blame you for the lost money.

If she genuinely wanted it to go ahead it could have done so without you.

itswinetime · 02/06/2018 21:34

How she's trying to claim the money back as there's no way anyone can be forced into repaying a debt they didn't benefit from.

I would love to be either a) the clinic she signed an agreement that she broke or b) the bank who won't give a Flying shit about what happened or didn't happen to the money she was lent, and just want the repayments as agreed. When she brings that argument up!! She will be laughed out if the office I imagine.

And like pp I doubt there was no way out of it the contract what if she was ill? She's not giving the full story and call me cynical but I'd wonder how long before the crowd funding page comes along.

MipMipMip · 03/06/2018 10:50

Almost Although thete are all those risks you listed it's very unlikely she even thought about them. I'm not suggesting the clinic didn't point them out but when you want something like that your reaction is usually "it won't happen to me. Next!".

SteveMcGarrettsBudgieSmugglers · 03/06/2018 11:26

If she spoke to the hospital where she was due to have surgery I am sure they would have worked with her so she got her surgery, even if it meant keeping her in hospital at cost

I also cant help wondering if she has approached any solicitors to act for her to sue Welshgal, that would have been an amusing day at the office for a solicitor if she has

Lizzie48 · 03/06/2018 11:43

Yes, I used to be a legal secretary. That would have made our day if one of us had typed that client letter. There would have a lot of jokey banter about that, it would probably have been a standing joke for a long time afterwards too. Grin

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 10/06/2018 18:12

Just found this thread again and been thinking of the £13K loan Titszilla needs to repay (If her facebook stories are true).

People need to think about what they are doing. The debt she has isn't impossible to repay and will hopefully make her think again before taking out larger loans and not to be as cheeky with other people's money in future.

I have been burned twice by other people's poor money management. I'm grateful that I'm now out of debt and have firmly learnt a lesson. I won't get burned again.

Others are facing impossible debts that will take years to shift.

I'm sure she's not going to learn the lesson about treating others decently though.

Ellendegeneres · 11/07/2018 09:55

I keep coming back hoping for an update 😟

LexieLulu · 11/07/2018 11:28

The OP came back and updated the thread last month. It seems to have run its course with Titzilla and I hardly think the OP needs to keep it going forever. What is it exactly you are looking for Welshgal to provide? Daily updates?

KittyHawke80 · 15/07/2018 22:59

Isn’t it a bit “weird” when someone decides to place “words” in inverted commas for literally no “reason”?

PlainWhiteTee · 15/07/2018 23:00

"Yes"
"Definitely"

PlainWhiteTee · 15/07/2018 23:00

PlainWhiteTee · 15/07/2018 23:00

"Yes"

PlainWhiteTee · 15/07/2018 23:00

That was "weird", I got a "failed to send" notification!

KittyHawke80 · 15/07/2018 23:02

Did “you” though? Or is “there” a bit more “to” this?

PlainWhiteTee · 15/07/2018 23:13

What are you "suggesting"? Did you "mean" to be so "rude"?

Knittedfairies · 15/07/2018 23:17

Isn’t the inverted comma thing more likely to be a bold or italic fail rather than ‘random’ placement though?

ludicrousmode · 15/07/2018 23:18

There's a "theory" that some people erroneously learn that "quotation marks" mean emphasis (sorry, the habit is catching) - possibly from newspaper billboards that would have the odd word in inverted commas and people mis-inferred what that meant.

KittyHawke80 · 15/07/2018 23:21

Well, you know, it occurred to me. But frankly, placing an emphasis on those words doesn’t really make much more sense . . .

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 16/07/2018 10:33

I missed this first time around!
Am with the OP.
And she can't sue because they never finalised terms ie who shoulders costs so no contract existed.
I bet the clinic are absolutely delighted!
