To be annoyed with DH over this?

It’s hot here. The kids had problems falling asleep last night as they were too hot.

We agreed to get a hot chicken from Costco for tea - with the thinking with new potatoes and salad it was an easy meal and not need the oven putting on. He’s just put the new potatoes in the oven because he wants them crispy Hmm

Then in the next breath says he’s going to do the ironing, in the usual place, which is directly below the kids rooms.

I should have just left the black out blinds open all day upstairs to see if we could cook the kids in their sleep Angry

Erm, never have I ever even considered that having the oven on for 30 mins or doing a bit of ironing would generate enough heat to drastically heat up the room above.

It’s the sun doing that, not your DH...

LelliNelli · 07/05/2018 17:13

Will ironing below someone's bedroom really cause that much of a temperature change?

trinity0097 · 07/05/2018 17:13

Doing some ironing in a room below is not going to really change the temperature in the room above!

Mouseville65 · 07/05/2018 17:14

Are you joking ... really, are you?

BrightonCalling · 07/05/2018 17:14

Yabu

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/05/2018 17:14

Think you’re being picky OP.

Idontevencareanymore · 07/05/2018 17:14

Bit unreasonable to be so annoyed yes.
Invest in a fan. Makes all the difference.

topcat2014 · 07/05/2018 17:15

Never considered kitchen related heat affecting upstairs rooms, tbh.

LuluBellaBlue · 07/05/2018 17:15

What random things to get annoyed about! Poor husband Hmm

Onlyoldontheoutside · 07/05/2018 17:15

Doing ironing is wierd in itself.

TrippingTheVelvet · 07/05/2018 17:15

Your husband is cooking dinner and doing the ironing and you're complaining? YABU

Bumbumtaloo · 07/05/2018 17:15

Sorry OP I think YABU as well. I can’t see that either of those is going to have an impact on the temperature of the DC’s room.

Melliegrantfirstlady · 07/05/2018 17:16

😂 seriously?

formerbabe · 07/05/2018 17:16

You're moaning that your husband is cooking and ironing! I have the opposite problem!

MyOtherHusbandIsTomHardy · 07/05/2018 17:16

Kids might be annoyed with you
AIBU Mum won't let us have crispy potatoes or buy us a fan 😂😂

Marmite27 · 07/05/2018 17:16

Fair enough, I think it makes it hot upstairs though!

Treaclepie19 · 07/05/2018 17:17

YABU, but so am I. It's too hot and it makes me cross Grin

(Note, I don't complain when it's snowing/cold)

Believeitornot · 07/05/2018 17:17

The oven isn’t going to compete with the sun for heat.

YABU

MapMyMum · 07/05/2018 17:17

I agree the oven being on can heat up the kitchen, Ive never thought about or noticed it affecting the upstairs rooms. As for the ironing, i would back away slowly before he notices what hes doing and leaves it for me if it were my dh!

Smellyjo · 07/05/2018 17:17

Yabu, sorry, I don't think an iron or even an oven will heat the house much. Are you maybe quite sleep deprived so taking it all a bit seriously?

Happygummibear · 07/05/2018 17:17

I would be over the moon if my DH sorted dinner and did a bit of ironing!

Put a fan on in the kids room and stop moaning about your DH doing housework

15star · 07/05/2018 17:17

The oven and iron won't increase room temp. Yabu and very weird. There must be a huge backstory and there's other things going on or you might be a bit controlling

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/05/2018 17:18

Marmite, I think the heat is making you irritable! Grin YABU

SnoogyWoo · 07/05/2018 17:19

Damned if he does damned if he doesn’t.

Marmite27 · 07/05/2018 17:19

They do have a fan in their room, but weren’t allowed it on last night as he’d have to move something to plug it in (I’m recovering from a c section so not allowed to move furniture) still I should be grateful the toddler was allowed to leave her vest off Grin
