To be annoyed with DH over this?

It’s hot here. The kids had problems falling asleep last night as they were too hot.

We agreed to get a hot chicken from Costco for tea - with the thinking with new potatoes and salad it was an easy meal and not need the oven putting on. He’s just put the new potatoes in the oven because he wants them crispy Hmm

Then in the next breath says he’s going to do the ironing, in the usual place, which is directly below the kids rooms.

I should have just left the black out blinds open all day upstairs to see if we could cook the kids in their sleep Angry

Is there anything else to this? It sounds like you are spoiling for a fight. Otherwise YABU

FrankenToast · 07/05/2018 17:26

The oven thing, I can get your annoyance. You thought of a dinner to avoid using the oven, and then he still uses it. But it still wouldn't have that much of an impact on the upstairs, though.

But the ironing thing... You are being extremely unreasonable. Why not just leave the kids' window on the latch overnight? Or to avoid this in the future, leave it open during the day. And maybe invest in a fan.

seventh · 07/05/2018 17:26

It does make it hot @Marmite27 but at least he's house trained 👍

TroubledLichen · 07/05/2018 17:28

Sounds like you’re hot and fractious. As others have said, oven and iron will not heat the bedrooms. They’re hot because it’s sunny. And you’re being unreasonable to have a go when he’s made dinner and done the ironing.

If furniture needs moving to plug in the fan in the kid’s bedroom then insist he does it before bedtime. And why would your toddler be ‘allowed’ to remove her vest? I’m really confused now...

PotteringAlong · 07/05/2018 17:28

How hot is your iron?!

StillMissV · 07/05/2018 17:29

I'd LTB. Send him round here though because I'm fat and pregnant and my ironing won't do itself and the dinner doesn't seem to be getting made with my arse on the sofa either

Lovemusic33 · 07/05/2018 17:40

I don’t use my oven much in the summer, when it’s hot I don’t want more heat (not because of the kids though, they sleep fine when it’s hot, I just hate cooking in the summer). Ironing won’t make their rooms hotter but I’m not sure who would want to do ironing anyway, I rarely do any.

extinctspecies · 07/05/2018 17:40

Unless your DH has turned on the Aga just to crisp up some potatoes YABU.

InspMorse · 07/05/2018 17:41

I’m recovering from a c section so not allowed to move furniture
He's cooking dinner & doing the ironing so I'm sure your DH could the plug/fan out by moving the furniture when he's finished those jobs Hmm
I also think you're spoiling for a fight.

ellie232 · 07/05/2018 17:42

I think you need to revise your physics books

InspMorse · 07/05/2018 17:43

StillmissV
I'll fight you for him.
OP, I'll have him if you don't want him. I've not even done the washing yet let alone the ironing.

Missingstreetlife · 07/05/2018 17:46

The oven will heat upstairs room, whole house even, but presume only for short time

AnneLovesGilbert · 07/05/2018 17:48

Bit baffled by having a hot meal when you're worried everyone is hot.

Salad and ice cream might cheer you up.

Don't criticise him for doing housework.

JustHereForThePooStories · 07/05/2018 17:50

Heat getting to you, OP?

Sabaisabai1234 · 07/05/2018 17:51

Sheesh, the poor guy. Can't do right for doing wrong. You sound an absolute delight to live with OP.

PEARSON93 · 07/05/2018 17:53

Really? Is this a real issue?

Eolian · 07/05/2018 17:56

Ironing downstairs makes it hot upstairs? Riiiight.....

A1hulahoop · 07/05/2018 17:56

Really? Is this a real issue?

About as real as the woman who scraped sauce off her meal.

Sparkletastic · 07/05/2018 17:57

Do you live on the sun?

sweeneytoddsrazor · 07/05/2018 18:11

sweeneytoddsrazor · 07/05/2018 18:12
