To celebrate NOT wearing makeup

All I see online is makeup tutorials and how to blend and contour Aibu to want to see more natural looking people? Shouldn’t we promote that also especially to our younger generation of girls ? I know I want to for my daughters.
I have been wearing makeup since I was 13 years old! And it became a part of my life every morning and apart of my normal daily routine. I felt like I had to wear foundation to cover my face (from what I don’t know) I felt like it was a comfort and never went one day without it!! I wouldn’t leave the house without it or even do the school run! That’s how insecure it made me..
but now for the last 12 days I have wore no foundation no coverage of any kind and I feel amazing ! After years and years of blocking the sun from my face feeling the skin on my face get natural sunlight feels lovely. After years of blocking my skin my skin has become pale and aged but with a little sun ☀️ it will become more natural... I love my makeup and will always wear it on special occasions like a night out etc but il no longer let it control me and my insecurities I will make the choice to wear as much or as little as I want 😊 and not feel that need to have to ! To some it may seem ridiculous but after 16 years to me it’s a little victory ❤️

Well if it makes you happy why not? Wearing make up makes me happier than not wearing it. I only wear foundation to cover my vitilgo and draw my eyebrows on.

TheStoic · 07/05/2018 14:18

I won’t be posting my beauty, natural or otherwise Grin. But good for you, OP. Embrace the liberation.

Awomansworkisneverdone · 07/05/2018 14:19

I agree... it’s more about celebrating the natural face. I have awful acne and blemishes and make up to me seemed to help me cope until I realised I was using it more as a mask than anything else

Thankyou stoic makes a change than a make up tutorial:)

Well, you’re beautiful !

But let’s celebrate wearing make up - not wearing make up & the freedom to be able to do whatever we choose. If it brings you joy, carry on, I say.

spinningpenguin · 07/05/2018 14:25

Well done 😁. I only wore foundation occasionally and now don't wear it at all, I like makeup though, these days mainly bit of an eyeliner and blush (I wear heavier makeup on special occasions and nights out which is quite rare/nonexistent since becoming a mum 😂).

Awomansworkisneverdone · 07/05/2018 14:27

Absolutely!! I use to enjoy putting it on even though it took over an hour to complete.

Is that you OP? In the pic?

You are very pretty Smile

I look fucking shit with no make up on! Grin

I won't be posting a pic of me - sorry.

BrightonCalling · 07/05/2018 14:34

Looking good OP!!!

Notagainmun · 07/05/2018 14:38

I wear less as I get older but would love to not need it. My eyes look piggy without it. You are naturally pretty with lovely skin so I would imagine it would be easier for you to skip the make up.

BrightonCalling · 07/05/2018 14:39

@Notagainmun
True enough! It would be a bit like someone with a naturally thick, glossy head of luscious curls urging us to abandon our styling products and tools!

Sadly OP my skin is awful!

Awomansworkisneverdone · 07/05/2018 14:41

That’s me this morning usually ild have heavy foundation blusher eyeshadow eye liner top and bottom.
Iv been going make up free for 12 days now. My face is pale as no natural sunlight has penetrated my skin as makeup has spf which is a good thing.
Makeup from the age 13 has ruled my daily life ! It’s been hard to break the habit of a lifetime but I’m slowly getting there but I will admit I like a little lippy for a little colour :)

Yeah, I only ever wear it for special occasions, it's fun then, like dressing up. I hate the idea that anyone would feel tied to a routine that ate into time they'd rather spend doing other things

happymummy12345 · 07/05/2018 14:42

I think everyone should be free to do whatever they choose.
I never have and never will wear makeup because I can't apply it at all. That's the only reason I don't.

SmashedMug · 07/05/2018 14:43

But but but those eyebrows have been tampered with!

Bluelady · 07/05/2018 14:44

I look ill without make up. You celebrate going without. I'll celebrate wearing it. Everyone's happy. That isn't so hard, is it?

Fe2O3Girl · 07/05/2018 14:44

It’s funny how the vast majority of men appear in public without makeup on.

To celebrate NOT wearing makeup
Awomansworkisneverdone · 07/05/2018 14:44

Nope it’s not easy was awful first few days as I suffer with acne but ad the days have gone on it’s become easier and my skin is clearing this is not a makeup bashing thread
It’s a thread and online post other than showing how to contour or highlight or make ourselves younger or more attractive, it’s about feeling empowered to not have to fit into society and feel its normal to apply so much make up.

Awomansworkisneverdone · 07/05/2018 14:46

Hi blue lady
Nope never would argue that’s its to hard to understand. I get it

Awomansworkisneverdone · 07/05/2018 14:47

Haven't worn any makeup for 6 years now, and only wore a very small amount before that.
If people want to wear makeup thats fine, as long as they don't feel pressurised into it. Everyone should be able to present themselves in a way that makes them feel comfortable.

SleepFreeZone · 07/05/2018 14:50

Errrm no. If I looked like you then yes, but I need make up.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 07/05/2018 14:50

Makeup, meh, I lost interest around the time I left university. But if other people enjoy wearing it then that's fine & their choice.

MaidenMotherCrone · 07/05/2018 14:51

Hurrah for a natural face Op. I don’t wear makeup myself but I know it gives many women confidence which is a shame really. Well done for finding the confidence to go without. Your acne will thank you for it too. Oh and you look lovely just as you are!
