To celebrate NOT wearing makeup

All I see online is makeup tutorials and how to blend and contour Aibu to want to see more natural looking people? Shouldn’t we promote that also especially to our younger generation of girls ? I know I want to for my daughters.
I have been wearing makeup since I was 13 years old! And it became a part of my life every morning and apart of my normal daily routine. I felt like I had to wear foundation to cover my face (from what I don’t know) I felt like it was a comfort and never went one day without it!! I wouldn’t leave the house without it or even do the school run! That’s how insecure it made me..
but now for the last 12 days I have wore no foundation no coverage of any kind and I feel amazing ! After years and years of blocking the sun from my face feeling the skin on my face get natural sunlight feels lovely. After years of blocking my skin my skin has become pale and aged but with a little sun ☀️ it will become more natural... I love my makeup and will always wear it on special occasions like a night out etc but il no longer let it control me and my insecurities I will make the choice to wear as much or as little as I want 😊 and not feel that need to have to ! To some it may seem ridiculous but after 16 years to me it’s a little victory ❤️

Because it’s 25degrees here at the moment and my breast are natural on the large side no effort is made to stick them out as you so nicely put it
Your 13 year old may not want to feel comfortable wearing what she chooses but that’s the least of your worries I’m afraid because unfortunately having a mother with your attitude towards other woman in such a negative judgmental way will make her cover up cautiously.
It’s called bralett they are very in fashion atm and I’m wearing a denim midi skirt that sits just under the knee. Smile

I love wearing make up and dyeing my hair. Will not be joining in. Neither one nor the other is better. Everyone just do what makes you feel good personally. Wear make up. Don’t wear make up. Don’t ever feel ashamed about your choices. And don’t make others feel ashamed for theirs. Life is short.

Stay away from that kind of social media that promotes unhealthy thoughts. I don’t go on any of it. I don’t feel any pressure. I just do what I want. And I feel good.

MarthaArthur · 07/05/2018 17:45

Jeeze the poster ragging on op for her clothes would hate me. Im wearing a bandeu bra and i went to the shops in it today. And yes it is a societal pressure on teens and women that men dont face that doesnt mean make up isnt fun and nice. But it becomes problematic when women are expected to wear it to be seen in public. And its not just a social media thing. I get comments too if i miss off one part of make up.

EdWinchester · 07/05/2018 17:46

Can't see what the point of the photo is tbh. Especially as they are not make up free brows.

VileyRose · 07/05/2018 17:50

I think you look great. I am 30 and stopped wearing make up too. It's amazing x

Gladys123 · 07/05/2018 17:52

I'd love not to have to wear concealer but unfortunately i have these under my eyes. And yes I've gone out not wearing makeup and whenever i do I've been asked by complete strangers if I'm ok. One charmer asked me if i was a junkie Hmm so i admire you for putting your face fully on display but i never shall.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 07/05/2018 17:53

You don't need it (boo! hisssss!).

BlueRiviera · 07/05/2018 17:54

Gladys123 you’re not alone. Practically mirror image.

I’ve had the junkie comments, have you been out all night comments. From strangers not just people I know.

It’s fucking shit.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 07/05/2018 17:55

Gladys - my old boss had colouring around her eyes like that. She was told it was a mineral deficiency and took supplements and it definitely got better.

starzig · 07/05/2018 17:57

There seems to be a few people say they need make up. Nobody needs make up. You want it then fair enough but no-one should be in a position that they feel they need to wear it. Self confidence does not come from face paint.

EdWinchester · 07/05/2018 17:57

Gladys, my friend has the same problem but much worse. She looks permanently knackered, even with makeup. She is of Italian descent.

Awomansworkisneverdone · 07/05/2018 17:59

Hey the Brows are permanent I’m afraid lol! And if you read the post it’s mainly about coverage
I.e foundation etc
And had them circles around my eyes it’s usually when I have not slept enough

starzig · 07/05/2018 18:00

Mine are much darker than that Gladys and I rarely wear make up.

Fifthtimelucky · 07/05/2018 18:00

I wear eye make up but have never worn any make up on my face other than a bit of powder. In my 20s I experimented with tinted moisturiser for a couple of weeks, but even that felt too unnatural.

I have never worn lipstick either, though I was talked into wearing a bit on my wedding day.

BrightonCalling · 07/05/2018 18:01

The eye circle thing is definitely something I see on people with olive/sallow skin tones.

On the plus side at least your facial skin doesnt look like a cross between a deep sea fish carcass and corned beef which is what ive got going on.
Exagerrating a bit but if you suffer from very thin, pale, redness- and acne-prone skin then im sorry, it doesnt matter how much the (generally dermatologically blessed) bleat on about no makeup, a bit of tinted moisturiser is going to make you look 100 times better. And thats just pure fact.

Gladys123 · 07/05/2018 18:01

It is isn't it BlueRiviera ? I take all sorts of vitamins AsAProfessionalFekko but nothing seems to work unfortunately. Funnily enough i think my dad has some italian in his family EdWinchester. Wouldnt mind so much if i wasn't so pale! When i have a tan i look fine 👍

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 07/05/2018 18:02

Self confidence does not come from face paint
Beg to differ, self confidence comes from feeling good
I an get a self confidence boost from clothes, squirt of perfume, clean styled hair
These are things I derive pleasure from and that enhances self confidence

Make up isn’t the only confidence booster but for me it’s one way to feel good
I feel confident when I’ve prepared for a work presentation
I feel confident in a new dress
I feel confident in the company of supportive friends

MarthaArthur · 07/05/2018 18:03

self confidence does not come from face paint. yes but that "face paint" helps confidence when i get compliments. Without make up not only do i get asked if i am sick somene asked if i needed a doctorHmm

Gladys123 · 07/05/2018 18:04

And yes i am sallow. Wow i sound gorgeous don't i ? 😁

Gladys123 · 07/05/2018 18:06

Also i sometimes see men and think well actually a bit of concealer wouldnt go a miss so its not just women who can benefit from a bit of make up.

BrightonCalling · 07/05/2018 18:07

@Gladys123
I once put eyeliner on my dp and it made me want to ride him hard tbh

BlueRiviera · 07/05/2018 18:08

I’ve done vast research on dark circles (not the ones from not sleeping). They are either hereditary, pigmentation, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or a vascular issue.

It can be treated so some successful but to know the right treatment then you need to discover the course of the issue.

BlueRiviera · 07/05/2018 18:09

BrightonCalling no one needs to know that.

stevie69 · 07/05/2018 18:11

Simply gorgeous, OP Smile

Go for it.
But don't join the selfie brigade.
And don't try and convince others to follow your ethos.
