Sneaking alcohol into arenas ...

Malibuandpineapple32 · 01/05/2018 12:08

Please don’t judge but I’m going to a concert next week and would love a few drinks but my local arena charges £8.50 for 1 vodka and lemonade .
Can’t affod prices like that.
If I was to hide some miniature bottles in my bra ..would they set off the metal detector?

I intend to buy my friend one for her birthday. Grin

I don't know, but last time I went to a concert (smallish arena) we put cans of vodka and diet coke in our jacket pockets and in a zip part of our bags, wasn't noticed and was great , still bought a drink in there (to get a glass and so we didn't feel mean ) Grin I think lots of people probably do it because it's just so expensive in those places

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 01/05/2018 12:16

There's a chunky bracelet you can buy that you can store alcohol in, then just buy soda or whatever from the bar.

ThymeLord · 01/05/2018 12:22

Hip flask in your bra. That's how I do it.

clumsyduck · 01/05/2018 12:24

Wish I'd done this at the last concert I went to . 6 quid a pop for a wine !!

Malibuandpineapple32 · 01/05/2018 12:26

They are so expensive !!
How they can charge what they do il never know

Because people pay it!

go for it. The worst that'll happen is if you're caught they'll just dispose of it and you go in. If you're happy with the risk of losing the booze if they find out then you should do it. I don't blame you at all, it's absolute daylight robbery.

Wolfiefan · 01/05/2018 12:40

Check the ticket and rules of venue. Could they legally ask you to leave if they could you?

MorganKitten · 01/05/2018 12:43

I take minis into gigs all the time - I'm top heavy which helps with hiding them

Thank me later

We went to a festival last year and smuggled booze in plastic breast milk storage bags - they seal very well so no chance of leakage and they're very flexible so mould around your body.

Peterrabbitscarrots · 01/05/2018 12:49

God we always do that - my mum got me started on it! We always bring a couple of small bottles of wine and plastic cups to the theatre or cinema too.

VladmirsPoutine · 01/05/2018 13:17

Yanbu. The worst that could happen is confiscation. Just be cool calm and collected. I went to a concert once where the woman infront of me kept re-arranging her tits and the security members got suspicious and took her to one side. The way she was acting was as if she'd carried in a bomb in her bra. FFS!

systemlakeland · 01/05/2018 13:18

Bottle of Evian. Empty it out. Re-fill with neat vodka. That's what I always did. Topped up with Coke once in.

IWantMyHatBack · 01/05/2018 13:26

I smuggled a litre of vodka into reading festival once. Two small bottles in the front of my trousers Grin

The breast milk bags are fucking genius.. Will be stealing that idea!

Mamadothehump · 01/05/2018 13:27

Does the venue allow bottled water to be taken in? Sealed lids maybe your friend!!

gryffen · 01/05/2018 13:28

SIA licenced here so I know what I'm talking about.

Check rules of venue - some will allow alcohol to be brought in but most won't.

Bag and body searches can and will be carried out by appropriate means which you can refuse but we would refuse you entry as you could be carrying anything.

We are aware of items such as bags and bracelets being used/made as alcohol flasks and if found would be emptied infront of you.

Camelback drink bags are not allowed either.

I'm a concert goer myself and just save up or don't drink- is it worth getting caught as most people are evicted if caught and if they resist they can be charged.

Over 10yrs experience so seen it all.

LucyEvans26 · 01/05/2018 13:30

I wore a skirt to a festival and taped a hipflask to the top of my thigh!

systemlakeland · 01/05/2018 13:30

@gryffen

Interesting to have input from someone who knows what they are talking about.

May I just ask what the rationale behind the checks are? Is it for genuine H&S reasons or just to sell over-priced goods at the venue?

I would have thought the price of tickets covered the cost of concert already?

Goingalonenow · 01/05/2018 13:32

You can buy fake tampons to smuggle booze in. Yes, they might check bags and flasks but I've never known a security guard check my tampons...

DelphiniumBlue · 01/05/2018 13:33

Last time I went to an arena gig (02) they made me take the lid off my water bottle and throw it away, although I was allowed to keep the bottle and its contents.I
So I would recommend taking a spare lid, whatever is in the bottle!

WalkingOnAFlashlightBeam · 01/05/2018 13:37

I'm a concert goer myself and just save up or don't drink- is it worth getting caught as most people are evicted if caught and if they resist they can be charged.

I just don't see the risk: if you're caught before you go in, they empty or confiscate it. You've lost the booze but you're still at the show.

And once you're in, if you're sensible you won't get caught. If I were to do it (I never have as I don't drink spirits) I'd just buy a coke and then take it to the toilet with me to fill it with spirits in privacy. You're not gonna stand out in the open doing it!

And if you get caught you're not gonna be stupid enough to resist eviction, adding an arrest to the eviction.

Just don't see why it's not worth doing?

viques · 01/05/2018 13:38

The 02 is ruthless. they stole my Belgium chocolate covered toffee popcorn from me once, though the following year ~ when I thought I had hidden it well ~ they found them but they did let them through .
