Half a cheesecake in 24 hours? Semi light hearted

I made a cheesecake on Sat, shared it with a friend on Sunday, she had a slice and so did I, and she took a slice home, plated a sliver for dd, this left half a cheesecake (7" round, approx 2.5" depth)

I put remainder in fridge and suggested to au pair there was some cheesecake there if she would like some.

I have a headcold so couldn't taste said cheesecake yesterday, took ds to out of hours doctor after work last night, thought to myself while there, I feel a bit better now maybe I'll be able to taste cheesecake now. Got ds settled about an hour after coming home and went to fridge for cheesecake - it was all gone. Dd didn't eat her sliver so definitely didn't eat it, H has gout so off sweet things and ds didn't eat anything yesterday.

Is it a bit excessive to have consumed half a cheesecake in the course of one day?

I have a massive birthday cake sitting on the table waiting for Ds to show his face
If he doesn't hurry up I'm going to set about it like pac man, my self control is waning by the second

1/2 a cheesecake is just lightweight.

Sack her until she knows how to do justice to it.

I could eat half a cheesecake in half an hour.

I never have, but I’m sure I could do it easily.

Nikephorus · 01/05/2018 10:48

Was it a chocolate one? If so she was VVU not to leave the whole thing for you.

Stephisaur · 01/05/2018 10:49

I probably wouldn't have finished it off if I was her, but honestly fatty over here I could probably manage the whole thing in one sitting if I felt like it!

DuchyDuke · 01/05/2018 10:50

You said she could have it and so she did.

Glumglowworm · 01/05/2018 10:51

I wouldn’t have finished off or eaten half of someone else’s cheesecake but my own cheesecake absolutely I could

Slartybartfast · 01/05/2018 10:54

she was hungrey

Aridane · 01/05/2018 10:58

Not excessive to eat the rest of the cheesecake you told her she could have - but the plated up slive should have been left

Aridane · 01/05/2018 10:59

Just re-read - the cheesecake wasn't particularly large - ie she ate 3.5" of cheesecake

Aridane · 01/05/2018 11:00

Au pairs are notorious on Mumsnet for eating loads to the dismay of their host

RafikiIsTheBest · 01/05/2018 11:04

It's all about the wording to me, if you said there's leftover cheesecake in the fridge help yourself then I don't think she did anything too wrong, but was a bit rude to eat it all.
If you said there's cheesecake in the fridge, help yourself to a PIECE or SOME if you like, then yeah she's bang out of order.

Homemade cheesecake is the best.
But DP and I have been known to polish a similar size one off between us in one sitting, usually with cream or icecream.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/05/2018 11:38

It was chocolate orange flavour
I did say some
It was extremely rich, half of it was still a hell of a lot of cheesecake, think 3 restaurant portions

I could eat half a cheesecake in half an hour.

Me too.

I never have, but I’m sure I could do it easily.

Oh, um. Me neither.

VimFuego101 · 01/05/2018 11:47

I would need to know the recipe for the chocolate orange cheesecake in order to male a judgement on this.

MyGrassNeedsCutting · 01/05/2018 11:52

I could eat that and more in one sitting.

Although out of respect, I'd have had a small piece, you know, not to look greedy.

BlueSapp · 01/05/2018 11:56

😂 half a cheesecake in a day. I can do that in ten minutes and that might explain my weight issue but seriously if it were every day, 365 day's a year then I'd be Hmm but not over it happening once.

AnneProtheroe · 01/05/2018 13:18

I made a cheesecake once, had one slice, then another, then another until i realised I had eaten the lot. So I made another one and took one slice out of that so my now-ex wouldn't realise and call me a piggy oink. My now-ex said that I had been very restrained and that my willpower was amazing! Grin

e1y1 · 01/05/2018 13:21

@CaffeineandCrochet 🤣😂

I too, can definitely say I never eaten half a cheesecake in half an hour.
