I've never seen that before but it does irritate me. Luckily MIL doesn't think like this and is only ever kind and helpful.

ScreamingValenta · 29/04/2018 11:11

It's utterly inane. YANBU.

bruffin · 29/04/2018 11:15

I think mn has a horrible attitude to gp. My dc adored their grandmothers and my mum used to run around all over london to help us out with our children

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 29/04/2018 11:18

God that’s annoying.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 29/04/2018 11:24

Goodness my DCs Grandparents love them far more than I do; they tolerate all kinds of shit they'd never have let me and my siblings get away with. I reckon they're probably loving their roles as Grandparents far more than they enjoyed being parents. If folk want to think they're Mums with a cherry on the top, crack on.

WowIFreelStrange · 29/04/2018 11:26

something my MIL would share on Facebook. HmmHmm

can't stand it. I'm MUM. no one else so back the fuck off I say. Grin

XiCi · 29/04/2018 11:26

It's just a stupid meme. It doesn't mean that all grandmothers think they are better than the mothers. I take it you have problems with your dm/mil as it's a really stupid thing to get het up about

Midge1978 · 29/04/2018 11:32

It was a friend not my mum or mil!

Most of these twee, inane memes have me rolling my eyes so hard I almost black out.

There's such self indulgent bullshit out there but I think people use these as they can't be bothered to (or aren't capable of) expressing themselves individually. They're like crap slogans on t-shirts.

I often wonder how much of it is passive aggressive, aimed at someone else, like those awful 'I'm a bitch so don't mess with me' type memes.

Grumpyoldwoman007 · 29/04/2018 11:42

Meh. Don't sweat the small stuff 🙄

missyB1 · 29/04/2018 11:45

I hate all memes and refuse to look at them. I do however think that GPs can have a very special relationship with their GC - if they are allowed to.

zinger · 29/04/2018 11:46

Don't know where I would be with my mum and MIL (and exmil) helping me bring up my kids

MrMagnoliasBoot · 29/04/2018 11:47

Maybe the internet is not for you, people share stupid memes all the time! Why get worked up about it?

ScreamingValenta · 29/04/2018 11:50

Maybe the internet is not for you, people share stupid memes all the time!

There's a great deal more to the internet than memes.

elQuintoConyo · 29/04/2018 11:50

It isn't irritating until there's a Minion in there somwhere. Imvho Grin

dingdongdigeridoo · 29/04/2018 11:54

Just for you elquinto...

MoodyTwo · 29/04/2018 12:06

What's it matter?
My MIL is awesome and a fab grandma to my son! It rings true to me :-D

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 29/04/2018 12:11

But a grandma is a mum. With a cherry on top. The grandchild is the cherry. Confused

Midge1978 · 29/04/2018 12:39

Not undermining the importance of grandparents, I just find it irritating when they share twee tripe like this to make themselves sound wonderful. Especially when they imply they're somehow better than the parents who have the daily slog of actually looking after their children!

MissDuke · 29/04/2018 12:58

I agree with Milk!

fuckingjournocunts · 29/04/2018 13:09

I couldn't survive without my mum. I'm serious. She's comes round my house once a week and although she doesn't realise it she gives me counselling. I talk & talk and get everything out and she listens and offers advice if she can. She even cleans my oven! I have dc with special needs and she helps with them too when I need a break. To me & my dc she means the world and she is like a mum with a cherry on the top to them. Sorry folks but she really is. My gp's were the same for my parents and they helped them out all the time. My mum was especially close to her dm & mil and they were both major role models for my siblings & I. We are very lucky.

Midge1978 · 29/04/2018 13:12

I think it annoyed me because the friend who posted it is a grandma herself so was blowing her own trumpet.

OP posts:
MyotherUsernameisaPun · 29/04/2018 13:14

It's a pretty vacuous meme but I would conclude from it that it means grandparents are overstating their role! What does that even mean?

MyotherUsernameisaPun · 29/04/2018 13:14

*wouldn't!

BuntyII · 29/04/2018 13:18

I have a few nurses as Facebook friends and they often share memes about how nurses are just angels without wings etc. Does my head in. (Prepares to die)
