Pissy stinky washing - Help!

QueenArnica · 29/04/2018 10:40

I have the most amazing cleaner, she’s absolutely brilliant. However she sometimes does stuff I haven’t asked her to do because she’s so fab.

Anyhoo this week she put on a wash for me but didn’t leave me a note to say she had. Cue two days later I go to put some washing on and there’s the load she did Shock

I washed it again but it’s still tainted with that horrible piss smell you get when you don’t hang washing straight away.

How do I get rid of it? Thinking of hanging it on the line in the rain for a few days then wash again?

Thanks all in advance for pissy washing tips!

yes, I think hanging it out outside for a day or so would be your best bet.
maybe a rinse & spin before you do.

GlitterGlue · 29/04/2018 10:49

Try washing it with dettol anti bac wash stuff.

QueenArnica · 29/04/2018 10:51

Was thinking of some napisan thrown in then stick it outside in the rainSmile

Yes to the dettol washing cleanser or napisan which is the same thing basically but in powder. It definitely gets the smell of actual wee (and other things) out of baby clothes.

Queenio24 · 29/04/2018 10:53

Re-wash as hot as is suitable and lots of powder & fabric conditioner in it, than hang outside.

Coralcolouredchrome · 29/04/2018 10:53

Vanish is really good at getting rid of stains, so I would assume it would freshen washing at the same time. Just put a scoop in with the washing powder, should do the trick.

Branleuse · 29/04/2018 10:53

how on earth can it still smell if its been washed again. Maybe your washing machine needs servicing or you need better detergent

KnittinKitten · 29/04/2018 10:54

White vinegar is a great deodoriser. Stick a glug in the drawer along with normal powder and fabric softener and it should be fine.

TicketyBoo83 · 29/04/2018 10:55

Wash it with bicarb of soda where the powder goes and white vinegar where the fabric softener goes. As hot a cycle as you can.

weaselish · 29/04/2018 10:55

Wash with white wine vinegar and it'll go!

Basta · 29/04/2018 10:56

Rewash with Zoflora?

dayinlifeof · 29/04/2018 10:56

We have this FWP too, I'll try the white vinegar but are you sure that my clothes won't just smell of vinegar instead?

We use fabric conditioner as we use eco washing liquid which smells of nothing but our clothes don't come out with that lovely fresh smell.

Pinkmexicanskull · 29/04/2018 10:57

Zoflora!!!

Peachyking000 · 29/04/2018 10:59

Can you wash with Zoflora?! I like the sound of this but not sure about experimenting with my clothes

QueenArnica · 29/04/2018 11:01

I do wash my machine regularly with stuff from Waitrose Wink

Thanks all am going to do Napisan, detergent and conditioner, hang outside and see. Will let you know if it works...

I wash with zoflora, totally fine with a capful in the softener bit of the tray. No issues with anything washed with it x

CanIGetARefund · 29/04/2018 11:09

I can confirm, white vinegar (about 250ml) in the final rinse really works (even works on cat pee). And the washing doesn't smell of vinegar when it's dry.

Juells · 29/04/2018 11:09

Being a lazy twunt I often forget that there's washing in the machine, I just wash it again and it never smells. There's something wrong with your washing machine, I think.

penguinsandpanda · 29/04/2018 11:16

Whenever we wash things again it doesn't smell that's strange. I would try fabric conditioner as well, you'll probably smell like an air freshener instead then but should overpower the stale smell.

bellsbuss · 29/04/2018 11:17

Second washing with zoflora , I use it with bedding and towels

NewYearNewMe18 · 29/04/2018 11:19

I must be the only person in the world that doesn't have 'pissy stinky washing' if its been in the machine for a day or two. What is this phenomenon?

penguinsandpanda · 29/04/2018 11:23

One day is fine normally, two days is borderline you can get lucky or unlucky, tends to smell of damp after that.

SofieMonde · 29/04/2018 11:24

Be careful it doesnt get darkened on lol you will have another problem

penguinsandpanda · 29/04/2018 11:24

We now have a washer dryer Grin

Solo · 29/04/2018 11:37

Napisan will surely whiten? I wouldn't use it unless on whites. I'd use Zoflora or I'd buy some Surf that specifically gets rid of bad odours; it's brilliant!
