Pissy stinky washing - Help!

QueenArnica · 29/04/2018 10:40

I have the most amazing cleaner, she’s absolutely brilliant. However she sometimes does stuff I haven’t asked her to do because she’s so fab.

Anyhoo this week she put on a wash for me but didn’t leave me a note to say she had. Cue two days later I go to put some washing on and there’s the load she did Shock

I washed it again but it’s still tainted with that horrible piss smell you get when you don’t hang washing straight away.

How do I get rid of it? Thinking of hanging it on the line in the rain for a few days then wash again?

Thanks all in advance for pissy washing tips!

Maybe try doing it in two half loads.
More space for the water to circulate?

You can try white vinegar before you do anything else. Vinegar is great at eliminating smells.

If I forget a wash for a couple of days I just wash it again and it's always fine. I use less detergent the second time actually as it's still clean, it just needs a freshen up/de-mildew.

I leave my washing machine door open between washes too so it's clear if there's something in there (plus lets the washer air out!)

Isn't zoflora a product with bleach in it?

MissDuke · 29/04/2018 12:14

I am surprised if it was only a couple of days, was it actually a bit longer than two? Have you tried washing the machine with your special waitrose stuff before washing the clothes again?

Dd once put in swimming stuff that had been festering in a bag in her room for weeks Shock she didn't tell us. The machine STANK after, as did the other stuff she put in with the disgusting swim stuff. It was awful, I had to run vinegar through the machine, took loads of rinses with the empty machine to get rid of the awful smell! I soaked the clothes in vinegar in the bath for several hours too.

Another fan of white vinegar here .... I put half vinegar & half detergent direct into the machine (in a small holder) - smells beautiful when I get it out

blackteasplease · 29/04/2018 12:21

I was going to.say Napisan too!

MrsCrabbyTree · 29/04/2018 12:27

A vote for vinegar and then fresh air from me.

ToadOfSadness · 29/04/2018 12:50

Another vote for white vinegar and fresh air, even in the rain, and then maybe another wash afterwards if it is left out in the rain for a while.

Bio-Tec powder—soak overnight and then wash as usual. Removes most smells including piss!

Bettiedraper · 29/04/2018 12:54

correction It's called Bio-tex Stain Remover Powder

Eliza9917 · 29/04/2018 13:00

If we leave washing in the machine for too long, it's fine when it comes out and dries but then when you get it out of the drawer/wardrobe later, it smells a bit like sick ffs Hmm

thegreatbeyond · 29/04/2018 13:02

Vinegar, and hang on line.

Solo · 29/04/2018 13:04

Zoflora does not have bleach in it; it's just disinfectant.

QueenArnica · 02/05/2018 07:28

UPDATE... washing with napisan and leaving on the line works! YAY!!!
