After ordering Papa Johns and having to wait an age, by which time it was past babies bedtime and she was falling asleep on me, I just wished I’d had a frozen pizza in to bung in the oven.

BUT.... are there actually any decent ones??? Papa Johns set us back around £30 so they don’t have to be super super cheap!

Bonus points if you let me know whether you prefer a pizza tray or a pizza stone for cooking them in the oven!

Iceland do some nice ones.

Always have a few in the freezer

PippilottaLongstocking · 29/04/2018 00:32

Dr oetker are my personal fave

midgwit · 29/04/2018 00:36

The stone baked ones from Aldi. They're fresh but you can freeze them yourself. Much better than any of the chain takeaways, and they're huge. I worked as a pizza 'chef' for years during college/uni/travelling and my partner is from Naples so we are pizza experts Wink

midgwit · 29/04/2018 00:37

*Sourdough ones from Aldi

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 29/04/2018 00:46

Dr. Oetker for frozen pizza - The Pizza Pollo with chicken and spinach is one of my favourite pizzas, hands down.

To replace take out - my local Tesco have a pizza bar. The most expensive pizza is a 14 inch with six toppings. £4.50 seems a bargain compared to delivery.

Lidl have just got a new range of deep pan ones in, 85p and I think they're lovely!

19lottie82 · 29/04/2018 01:16

You can’t beat a dirty deep pan Goodfellas!

Ski40 · 29/04/2018 01:23

I like Chicago Town stuffed crust. Ooh I shouldn't be thinking of pizza right now, damn...😁😁

BeUpStanding · 29/04/2018 01:25

Dr. Oetker taste weirdly sweet to me, am not a fan. The Aldi sourdough are good.

Crispbutty · 29/04/2018 01:25

Not frozen, but Waitrose do a fresh stone baked pizza base with just tomato sauce on it. I get these and put mozzarella and my favourite toppings on. It honestly tastes as good as any decent Italian restaurant pizza. For a fraction of the cost.

Sorry, wood fired not stone baked.

19lottie82 · 29/04/2018 01:30

The so called stuffed crusts with tomato in the crusts....... they’re NOT stuffed crusts Angry

condepetie · 29/04/2018 01:44

Dr Oetker Funghi pizzas are way, way too good. Really garlicky with tons of mushrooms, although sometimes I put extra on. About 1000 calories each, but fucking delicious.

Crispbutty · 29/04/2018 01:46

I also second the Lidl sourdough ones too. DP says the salami one is better than all the takeaways.

ByeGermsByeWorries · 29/04/2018 01:48

I love Asda's fresh ones at the deli, but I also have discovered the best cheese pizza is the co op frozen cheese pizza in the green box

idobelieveinfairies86 · 29/04/2018 02:12

I do like the Iceland ones, they do a stuffed crust cheese and also for a change their 'new Yorker' crust is stuffed with a hotdog.
Also the Dr oetkia cheese and pesto is good (although the base is a little thin for me)

I pop mine on a pizza tray.

Legging it before some1 says their favorite is pineapple and I have to shout at them (read beat them with a frozen pizza) 😡🤣🤣🤣
xx

Bexter801 · 29/04/2018 02:16

Oh thin based, goodfellas stuffed crust, yummy. Or co ops garlic cheese pizza,£1.19,add a few toppings, ham, chicken, chilli flakes...whatever you like

HannahHut · 29/04/2018 02:22

Go to the ASDA and get the make your own pizzas. You can freeze them or eat them fresh, lovely and you can choose your own toppings :)

GeorgeW78 · 29/04/2018 02:25

I dislike almost all supermarket pizzas but Picard's are the best, (every Picard product I've tried has been good) you can get them from Ocado. It's a shame they've annoyed me so much I've stopped using them because now I can't get my Picard fix. I'm not considering getting my in-laws to order for me! Blush

GeorgeW78 · 29/04/2018 02:29

I should have stipulated it's the Picard Margherita Pizza, I haven't tried any others they do.

lostinjapan · 29/04/2018 02:52

The Sainsbury’s thin and crispy vegetable pizza is really nice and only £1.30.

LellyMcKelly · 29/04/2018 03:15

You can make the dough yourself really easily and for pennies. Flour, yeast, olive oil, salt, sugar and water. Then put what you want on the top. They’re way better than Papa Johns and far cheaper.

snozzlemaid · 29/04/2018 04:07

Another vote here for Iceland's stuffed crust. And Dr Oetker.

PasstheStarmix · 29/04/2018 04:36

Morrison’s fresh pizzas by far the best. Their toppings are the best quality. You can freeze them but have to take our night before and leave to defrost.
