Swimming costume without bra insert

I’ve been looking for a new swimsuit for a couple of weeks, I had a brilliant one from H&M but it got a hole in it in the washing machine.

Every single swimming costume I’ve seen in every high street shop has a bra insert in it, the problem is that I’m quite large chested and there is no way these inserts will go anywhere near fitting me so I’d end up with a bit of elastic across my boobs and over hang at the sides.

I can’t afford a specialist swimming costume from somewhere like Bravissimo, I was hoping to get something for under £15, as I only go to the pool once a month.

I know I’m not the only larger chested lady so what do other people do?

Give figleaves a go

ShatnersBassoon · 24/04/2018 22:22

Get a sports one, rather than a fashion one. Decathlon will have a good choice.

theunsureone · 24/04/2018 22:24

Sports direct have some good non bra insert ones, JJB used to do some great ones, Adidas and Nike are a couple of great makes to go for, research good makes and then find the shops to buy them in

mummyretired · 24/04/2018 22:37

TK Maxx do sports swimming costumes at affordable prices, worth a look

AlisonS13 · 24/04/2018 22:38

I find TU swimsuits are excellent.
I am a 40E bust and they hold it all in place when I go swimming 4 times per week.
I have the costume version of this tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Dotted-Swim-Dress/132510782-Navy
As well as others from last year and one from the year before which is only now showing signs of wear.
Just make sure it has shaping to the cups and they are grand.
Very supportive and coverage is good so you feel secure!

Supermarkets. I am an F cup and got a decent polka dot bikini from Asda last year for around £15.

BluebellCockleshell123 · 24/04/2018 22:53

Also the sale section of Brastop

margotsdevil · 24/04/2018 22:53

I have a 40G chest and wear a matalan one piece with no problems.

MrsDylanBlue · 24/04/2018 22:54

Figleaves is your friend (the sale)

murmelimoo · 24/04/2018 22:54

Halterneck that you can tie up yourself. Otherwise everything falls out. Mine is from figleaves but was about £35

ScaredPAD · 24/04/2018 22:56

I have this problem - I love the Sainsbury's ones but they all have cup padding when I looked!!

I'm obese but love swimming lengths and need a new swimsuit ad mine is flakingbaway. I looked in "yours" today and they all have blinking padding. Rubbish when you want to swim.

I'd love a sports one...But they don't tend to go up to my size!

BigPinkBall · 24/04/2018 23:06

All the supermarket ones have the bra insert and so do matalan, and I’m afraid a halterneck might look obscene, I’m a size 16 - 36HH so I need proper shoulder straps.

I will look at sports ones in sports direct but I’m not confident that I’d fit in them as I think the sports ones are usually designed with more “athletic” bodies in mind.

Definitely a sports one like Speedo or Zoggs.

ScaredPAD · 24/04/2018 23:38

Yeah I love those and I don't fit :(

OreoMini · 24/04/2018 23:41

Primark has ones with no padding or inserts in at all. £4.

I picked one up for my holiday recently

ScaredPAD · 24/04/2018 23:58

I've just ordered some to try on simply be as if you put "sports swimsuits" you tend to get the ones without the silly cups. I've got 2 at size 22 which might fit and then there's a nike one that goes bigger but is £50!!!!!

BothersomeCrow · 25/04/2018 00:23

Sports ones just stretch to cover everything. Sports Direct have ones for £12-20.

BothersomeCrow · 25/04/2018 00:23

And mines a size 18.

Storminateapot · 25/04/2018 00:24

I have a lively speedo one that is flattering in the body and is very flexible and forgiving of the larger boobs without having them squashed into an inset. Wasn't cheap, would have been more than £15 but not absurdly expensive. I've had it donkeys years and still going strong. Worth that bit extra for sure.

Storminateapot · 25/04/2018 00:25

It's lovely, not l

Storminateapot · 25/04/2018 00:25

Oh ffs this app! Lovely not lively!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 25/04/2018 00:37

eBay. Search for “38hh swim”. You should be able to get a new bra sized costume for £20ish, although it may require a little patience. I just bought a tankini with a top from amazon and bottoms from eBay, but they will match.

Ginkypig · 25/04/2018 00:52

Depending on the type though could you just cut out the bra bit?

LadyPenelope68 · 25/04/2018 01:09

Lots of swimming costumes on Simply Becyhat would fit your chest size and have no bra insert. I’m the same as you, bra inserts just don’t go in the right place for my chest! Reasonably priced too.
