Swimming costume without bra insert

I’ve been looking for a new swimsuit for a couple of weeks, I had a brilliant one from H&M but it got a hole in it in the washing machine.

Every single swimming costume I’ve seen in every high street shop has a bra insert in it, the problem is that I’m quite large chested and there is no way these inserts will go anywhere near fitting me so I’d end up with a bit of elastic across my boobs and over hang at the sides.

I can’t afford a specialist swimming costume from somewhere like Bravissimo, I was hoping to get something for under £15, as I only go to the pool once a month.

I know I’m not the only larger chested lady so what do other people do?

Simply Be not Becyhat!

FightMilk · 25/04/2018 02:42

Debenhams have bikini tops that are sized the same as bras which helps! Can't remember what sizes they went up to though

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 25/04/2018 02:51

www.sportsdirect.com/slazenger-boyleg-swimsuit-ladies-354743?colcode=35474303 This works even if fairly large of nork and goes up to a size 22. I've had one for 2 years and it's held up well. I go swimming two or three times a week in it.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 25/04/2018 03:10

Sainsbury's I'm a 38hh and they fit me. Have a good look at the sizes and try on

ScaredPAD · 25/04/2018 05:57

I've ordered some simply be ones but they ve mostly come up expensive! (25, 40,50) but it was all I could initially find.

I followed the sports direct link and although I don't like the boy leg I found they do do a slazenger normal sport one that goes up to 22!

I hope it fits!

Iamclearlyamug · 25/04/2018 06:18

agree with trying eBay - I'm a 34H and got a really nice tankini last summer - think I paid £12, proper underwired cup and nice padded straps

Flev · 25/04/2018 06:56

I'm the same size as you - I eventually gave in and spent the money on a bravissimo one and it's the only swimsuit that has ever fitted me properly, it actually offers some bust support. I know they're expensive but mine has lasted 5 years so far and still going strong.

smeerf · 25/04/2018 06:56

I'm a 34G and I just bought a sporty looking one from Matalan for £12 - it has cups in it but they fit fine.

ovenchips · 25/04/2018 07:13

Brastop website are like the bargain basement version of Bravissimo (though no relation to them) and have swimsuits in large cups (some with insert and some not) for very good prices.

ScaredPAD · 25/04/2018 08:33

Oh wow there's a few sport ones cheap at sports direct that go up to 22!! I wish I'd oredered more than one now as it's painful to pay p and p again. If they fit I'll return the expensive other ones I ordered!!

ScaredPAD · 25/04/2018 08:34

Oh and long tall Sally do bigger too.

ScaredPAD · 26/04/2018 17:37

Sooo the sports direct one "came up small " (probably accurate sizing tbh!) But the ling tall sally one was perfect.they do plus sizes and although I'm not super tall I have a long body so is absolutely perfect. 40quid though :(

margotsdevil · 26/04/2018 17:48

My Matalan one definitely doesn't have inserts or padding, just checked. It was bought last summer though...

ScaredPAD · 26/04/2018 18:23

My Sainsburys one from last year didn't but all the ones I saw this year did!

Eatalot · 26/04/2018 19:09

Ebay is a good place to get bravissimo costumes cheap. A good fitting one makes all the difference.

DameLillyTillicut · 26/04/2018 19:35

Arent the padded inserts removable in most swimming costumes? Or am I thinking about something else? I always remove the little triangle pad from my costumes and wear a bra type bikini under it instead.

Spartacunt · 26/04/2018 19:46

Yours have a really nice black one that I got recently - nice mesh detail, supportive but no bra style top and nice thick shoulder straps. Think it's £20 or under.

ScaredPAD · 26/04/2018 20:37

Dame lots are sewn in.
Spart- all the ones in our yours had padding around the breast area!!

Gravelface · 26/04/2018 21:10

I have one from asos Curve which is absolutely brill. Quite surprised me.

Spartacunt · 27/04/2018 11:26

Actually you're right - the Yours one does have a bit of padding - but it is very thin and I didn't notice it - I think it's more for nipple coverage than anything else.

reallyanotherone · 27/04/2018 11:30

Speedo and other sports ones. Try proswimwear.

I find even though i have big boobs the decent lycra is enough to hold everything in and give reasonable support. Speedo do an “endurance” range which is longer lasting, but the lycra is slightly less stretchy if you want things held down more firmly.

Etymology23 · 27/04/2018 11:37

TK maxx do sized swimsuits by cup-size often. Otherwise sporty is the way I go to keep everything in!

Branleuse · 27/04/2018 11:48

have you tried looking at bra-sized swimwear on ebay. Its so much cheaper than at bravissimo etc

BigPinkBall · 28/04/2018 16:57

Good news! I went to a TK Maxx in a large town, a bit further away than I’d normally go, and as soon as I walked in the shop, hanging on the end display rail was the perfect swim suit, in my size with no bloody padded bra insert and it looks great, plus it only cost me £16 so I can’t complain Grin

Enormous boobs and plenty of wobbly bits here- I have a decathlon shortie swimsuit, entirely cupless, and great - somehow, despite having no support at own, everything stays where it should when I'm swimming (even with grabby kids!). I highly recommend
