AIBU to wonder why everyone has cleaners these days!

Ok, please don’t take offence, I say this somewhat in jest. But my goodness how many of you have cleaners?? I have been utterly ripping the pee out of a male colleague at work because he and his wife have a cleaner but I hadn’t realised how common it’s become until I joined MN!

I personally struggle to justify spending my hard earned cash on things I could do myself (also do most of my own decorating and DIY). But have I missed something? Is a cleaner now the new must have?

It’s because many people work long hours and would rather spend their time off with family/friends/on enjoying life generally than cleaning.

If you don’t want to spend your money on a cleaner then don’t. I have a cleaner because I don’t want to do my own cleaning and I grew up with cleaners so it has always been totally normal to me and IMO an excellent use of my hard earned money. We all spend our money how we wish. There are plenty of things people spend money on that I don’t understand but I wouldn’t mock them for it

How annoying for your colleague. Pretty much everyone I know has a cleaner it's not worthy of comment let alone constant jibes.

Cleaning is the worst and I hate it. So I pay someone else to do it.

I basically cba to deep clean. Everyday clean up, yeah fine but getting on my hands and knees scrubbing etc I have no time for. I have four dc and ZERO time to iron and deep clean.

Have to admit, I don't know a soul in real life who has a cleaner, (including many women who work,) but at least a third of the women on MN claim to have one. Not sure why this is.

I work 50 hours plus a week in a high stress job. My husband works full time. We both have our own businesses. We have a 3 year old DS, a horse and a dog. So evenings and weekends are taken up with family, pets or business paperwork. I don’t work this hard to spend my weekend cleaning. Time off is for enjoyment.

I work full time commuting into London. I want to spend my spare time with my kids doing fun stuff rather than cleaning.
Although tbf I had a cleaner on maternity leave. I hate cleaning. Never, ever resent the cost.

I work full time Monday to Friday. Get 2 hours tops with my children in the evening. Then when they go to be I’m exhausted and have to do preparation for the following morning, and my hubby gets in from work at 7.20pm, so just want to get my basic chores done and relax.

Then weekends, I have to do the washing and ironing for the following week and I want to spend quality time with my children so no time.

I do “basic” cleaning, wash the pots, wipe the sides down, sweep the floors, sling the hoover around. But I like the cleaner to do a proper clean once a week.

It costs me about the same for a large takeaway and means I get to see my family.

I know quite a few people with cleaners.

Now we’re in jobs that give us barely any free time in the week we don’t want to spend what little time we have cleaning. Helps us keep on top of things. Wouldn’t say we are particularly high earners or unusual!

Ripping the pee why? How? What about having a cleaner is remotely laughable?
I hate cleaning and I’m not good at it. I don’t have a cleaner now, but I have in the last and I would again.

We dont and tbh apart from my sister who had one when she had a new born i dont know anyone who does but...if i had the money i so would. I think id go without things to pay for a cleaner as worth it in time but sadly i cant cut my budget at the moment of just bills and food.

I work long and often unsociable hours, my hard earned money pays for our lovely cleaner who makes my life easier and gives me back precious time to spend with my family.
