AIBU to start this thread just because I'm waiting in hospital to have a caesarean (first DC) and I desperately need a distraction?

It could happen at any point today, unless they get too busy with emergencies and then it will be pushed to tomorrow.

I'm sat here in a boiling hot hospital room, all trussed up in my gown and sexual socks.

All I want in the entire universe is a cold glass of fresh orange juice, but all I'm allowed to consume is 50ml of water an hour, which comes in a urine sample pot for extra lols.

DH is here, on his phone, looking like he really needs some sleep. I am so scared and excited and so many other emotions. GrinShockConfused

Unihorn · 19/04/2018 12:08

You are well within your rights, I am currently in hospital getting ready for mine in the morning! Second section after an emergency with my first. My VBAC has failed as my contractions aren't getting stronger so here I am getting ready for a second section missing out on the beautiful weather for the next three days. Have you a rough idea of a time?

Maverick66 · 19/04/2018 12:09

Good luck Nelly.
Just think in a few hours you will have a beautiful baby........and the best tea and toast you will ever taste in your life CakeBrew

BabyBooDue · 19/04/2018 12:22

Good luck OP!

Fingers crossed you won't be kept waiting too long Smile

I'm 39 weeks today, sat on the couch, wondering whether every twinge is the start and what else I can possibly do to try and get things moving!

ProfessorPickles · 19/04/2018 12:22

So so envious OP, it is an amazing moment when you meet your baby! Hope they don't keep you waiting too much longer Thanks

OohMavis · 19/04/2018 12:23

N'aww! You're going to be cuddling a real-life tiny human today.

NellythePink · 19/04/2018 12:25

Thanks everyone Grin

@Unihorn hope you're not disappointed. The weather thing is poo isn't it, by at least we can tell our DCs that they were born on beautiful spring days! Good luck for tomorrow.

@Chortlesauraus Yep, first baby (a DD).

No idea what time it's going to happen, it could be in 5 minutes or tomorrow. I'm not allowed to leave the room at all now because they are about to put me on a drip. I hope you're all enjoying the sun on my behalf please!

How exciting! Fingers crossed for it to happen today and you will be holding your baby tonight. Xx

Aprilmightbemynewname · 19/04/2018 12:27

If you are a really good patient they may let you keep the socks.
For dressing up. .. Wink

ColinsVeryJolly · 19/04/2018 12:30

Ooh exciting!

Good luck, hope there'll be some squidgy baby photos up later...Brew

Fatted · 19/04/2018 12:30

When I had my youngest it was like this so I know how you feel! I couldn't even get phone signal or wifi in the labour ward while I was waiting Shock

Fatted · 19/04/2018 12:31

Also, I know you want orange but trust me you'll be grateful for just having water. I threw up after my first who was an emergency because I'd eaten and drunk too soon before the anesthetic

NellythePink · 19/04/2018 12:33

@BabyBooDue Ooh! I bet 26th seems like ages away. You could have a bounce on a birthing ball? Or eat spicy things? I don't know if that is just an old wives tale, though.

@April well there's a thought. they have got that great combo of looking shit AND making your legs feel like sausages

I let DH pick out her first outfit (from a pre approved selection, obvs) and he has gone for this funky ensemble. The hat doesn't go with the sleepsuit but he is v pleased with his choices.

i know exactly how you feel, I was the same, excited, nervous, wanted it over with but at the same time would've been relieved if they'd said they couldn't until the next day.
Try to relax, and it will be over before you know it, my c sec felt like it was done in about ten mins it was so fast and since then the past 6 years have flown by!

Ilovewillow · 19/04/2018 12:35

Gorgeous Socks! Hope all goes well! He has done a good job, it's lovely!

NellythePink · 19/04/2018 12:41

@OohMavis @ColinsVeryJolly I will definitely put up photos of tiny human asap Smile

@nadinexxx I like the sound of it going fast. Does the spinal injection really hurt?

OP posts:
UpstartCrow · 19/04/2018 12:50

I didn't think the epidural was painful but it was weird as it sort of tickled from the inside when they put the tube in..

nadinexxx · 19/04/2018 12:53

you feel the pressure of the spinal injection but it doesn't sting or hurt a lot if you get what I mean, I was terrified and made them put in a bit more anaesthetic before giving the spinal.
just hug your pillow or the nurse and stay still, it's not as bad as it sounds honestly.

TokyoSushi · 19/04/2018 12:58

Oh this is exciting! Good luck!
