allthegoodnameshadgone · 17/04/2018 23:01

I have a link to what I want as my wedding dress.

It's from China. It's very cheap for what it looks like.

Does anyone have any experience buying from abroad and any advice.

Pic to follow

Thanks in advance everyone x

It's not see through it's nude underlay. With a detachable train

There’s a very strong chance it won’t look at all like the picture and the quality will be awful. Not guaranteed obviously but is it worth it? Why not get a decent dressmaker here to make it for you.

PlaymobilPirate · 17/04/2018 23:06

Absolutely no chance it'll look like that. My cousin bought a similar one - it was awful

Doobigetta · 17/04/2018 23:06

A lot of the Chinese wedding dress sites are dodgy and the dress you get looks nothing like the (stolen) photos on the website. There's a Facebook page that lists all of the ones people have flagged as selling poor quality dresses. Can't remember what it's called, sorry, but try googling it.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 17/04/2018 23:07

Risky. There’s lots of eBay dresses that are huge disappointments, especially with regards to embellishments. See if you can find a seller that forum users recommend.

Fruitcorner123 · 17/04/2018 23:07

Quality will be awful

Size will be very small

Likely that people making it are working in poor conditions. Long hours. Low pay. Perhaps mistreated

Get a dressmaker to try and make it.

There are a few Chinese wedding retailers who are legit but there are a hundred times more that are amateur sheisters! The only way of knowing is to look for happy customer reviews. If they don't have them readily available to view, they are almost certainly sheisters.

allthegoodnameshadgone · 17/04/2018 23:08

Thank you. I already had reservations.

I wouldn't. Google dress from China fail and have a look at the pics.

WorraLiberty · 17/04/2018 23:08

Not all wedding dresses from China are shit.

There are plenty of sellers with really high feedback/100s of positive reviews.

That dress looks lovely. My advice would be to research the the seller/company thoroughly.

JustKeepStumbling · 17/04/2018 23:09

Join some of the wedding Facebook pages and see if anyone else has bought it and what they thought of theirs? I’ve seen some horrendous ones but equally a friend ordered from China and hers was beautiful

allthegoodnameshadgone · 17/04/2018 23:09

You can get it custom made.

I've got 15 months yet. But I hate shopping. I may feel differently when I lost a couple of stone.

I wouldn't take a chance with the China dress. Have a look on ebay for second hand dresses - I sold my Ronald Joyce wedding dress on there and it was still in immaculate condition. Also, some bridal shops will let you buy the display dresses at low prices and they are in excellent condition too. Not worth the risk ordering from China, imo

WorraLiberty · 17/04/2018 23:10

Yes that's a really good idea JustKeepStumbling regarding FB groups.

Skinnyboneylittlepony · 17/04/2018 23:10

I had one and it was awful. My mums friend ended up making me a hideous dress. I wish I had bought the £700 preloved one. I ended up spending £600 on both dresses that I hated.

salsamad · 17/04/2018 23:10

It looks lovely in the picture but I would be very wary that you are actually going to receive the dress that you are looking at.
I've seen some awful prom dresses on the net that have been ordered from overseas that look nothing like what they were suppose to - cheap material, badly sewn and not fitted together correctly etc.

ObiJuanKenobi · 17/04/2018 23:12

Lots of bad experiences online, coco melody are meant to be a good one but I decided not to risk it

Lifeaback · 17/04/2018 23:12

I have heard too many horror stories to risk it- on our local fb page around prom time there are always mums warning against ordering prom dresses from china due to bad experiences.

I hate to say it but if your wanting a dress with embellishments like that then if it's cheap it'll look cheap. Don't get me wrong some dresses are a steal for what they are, but that's normally the case with more simple styles- anything lace/embellished you tend to pay for what you get

MabelFurball · 17/04/2018 23:12

Is it supposed to be see through?

allthegoodnameshadgone · 17/04/2018 23:13

I'm not on any social media apart from this tbh.

The price isn't an issue. Not that I want to spend hundreds. Just saw this and liked it.

OP posts:
allthegoodnameshadgone · 17/04/2018 23:15

Mabel

It isn't see through it's a nude underlay

OP posts:
allthegoodnameshadgone · 17/04/2018 23:16

This is the first dress I've really liked. I have ages and ages. I may re post many times Smile
