To be annoyed at DP

Lighthearted, but I am a bit annoyed. We are one of them coupl3s that has separate duvets purely for the fact that I’d freeze to death in winter if we didn’t. DP wraps himself like a mummy so quite often I’d wake up as a block of ice. He goes to bed earlier as he gets up for work early. So by the time I go to bed the cheeky fucker is using my duvet on top of his own leaving my side of the bed cold. It then takes me 5 minutes to pry them off him and a further 30 minutes of him moaning he’s cold till finally he gives up.. AIBU to think when I come to bed I should be entitled to my covers hassle free when he’s got his own! 😂

Personally I’d wake him up and demand the duvet.

Babdoc · 12/04/2018 22:46

If DP is so cold that he needs two duvets, I’d recommend checking his thyroid function and buying him a 13 tog winter duvet for his sole use!

S0upertrooper · 12/04/2018 22:47

I don't know if you ABU or not but I'm always amazed at couples who have little contact in bed. We sleep naked and cuddle in to keep warm. You could always try snuggling up?

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 12/04/2018 22:48

@babdoc
Funny thing is I have congenital hypothyroidism 😊 I’m barely cold. I’m not sure what his issue is. Maybe just likes the comfort, I’m all for sharing but he’s taking the biscuit now. 🤣

Buy another duvet.

Sammy901 · 12/04/2018 22:51

Just pull the duvet off him when you go up as it’s yours and tell him to stop moaning and put a onesie on. Sorted

kateclarke · 12/04/2018 22:51

Make HIM buy another duvet

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 12/04/2018 22:52

@s0upertrooper
Can’t sleep naked as DS has night terrors which I have to get up and sort him out, and I always sleep on my front so it’s hard to cuddle up. Not to mention I hate hugs 😩 yes I’m weird I know, can just about manage them from kids but cuddling under covers all night is like a claustrophobic nightmare 😖

Lol we do the same, only DH takes my duvet. They're slightly different so if he's taken mine I yank it off him Grin he doesn't do it often any more.

19lottie82 · 12/04/2018 22:59

Surely the simple solution here would be to buy him a warmer duvet?

19lottie82 · 12/04/2018 22:59

Eeeee gads! I can’t imagine anything worse! Even my DH breathing on me when I’m trying to sleep gives me the rage Angry

QOD · 12/04/2018 23:03

We have separate single duvets. Dh is too tall for his so his feet stick out. Hehe
Tough shit imho as I spent yonks with no frigging quilt
We slept in separate rooms for a long time as we rowed about snoring. Both of us. Now I don’t snote, we’re back in one room. Of course he still does. Is. Right now 👊

ShinyShooney · 12/04/2018 23:03

I too am a sleep naked a cuddle person- normally with a leg outside the duvet and the window open. But if that's not you thing maybe have two single duvets and a nice big one on top. Bigger than your bed so a king if you have a double? That'll make you bed look nicer than two single duvets too and if it's on top then doesn't need washing as much as the rest.

gamerchick · 12/04/2018 23:06

I have my own bedroom so none of this applies to me Grin

I can’t think of anything worse than snuggling up naked to sleep. Having them breathe on your naked skin!

PlumsGalore · 12/04/2018 23:10

Grin I so agree lottie

I was going to say something along the lines of "well you can't have been married for 25 years to a snorer then and be in the middle of the menopause.

We have a superking, it's still too close, I get separate rooms totally!

DragonNoodleCake · 12/04/2018 23:12

No no no no no to naked sleeping. Skin getting sweaty against skin no no no. I can't even bare the thought of my own thighs together! And DH snores and breathes heavy and I'm a wriggler, there is a reason we have a super king! I like my sleeping space! And I love the bed to myself. Yes

DragonNoodleCake · 12/04/2018 23:13

Haha @PlumsGalore that was almost in unison 😀

DragonNoodleCake · 12/04/2018 23:14

Sorry OP I meant to say YANBU make him buy another duvet the thief

Greenkit · 12/04/2018 23:14

what about an electric blanket, with different temp controls on each side.

Casmama · 12/04/2018 23:17

If I was you I would take my duvet downstairs when he goes to bed and cosy up on the couch then take it with me when I go to bed. If he has an inadequate duvet issue then he should solve it another way.

Shizzlestix · 12/04/2018 23:17

Unusual for a bloke to feel the cold so much. Rather than separate duvets, why not get an electric blanket with separate controls. We have one, I freeze, my side goes on. Dh uses it purely for comfort when he’s coming in from night shift. Brilliant invention!

Worlds0kayestmum · 12/04/2018 23:22

YANBU to be annoyed. Our DS has me up a couple of times through the night still and I get very annoyed if I get back in bed and he's wedged his great hairy arms under my pillow or he's rolled over and slept in my side. I like my bed to be cool when I get back in, not hot from somebody's clammy body. As for sleeping cuddled up, I can't bear it, I'm happy for a cuddle in bed but separate sleeping spaces is a must

LemonysSnicket · 12/04/2018 23:24

Lol at the snuggling. I love cuddles and me and DP snuggle for a good 30 moms before bed whilst reading .... then we turn around, and touch feet. One foot to one foot and if you try and hug me further I will bite you. Humans aren’t made for sleeping in other people’s body heat when their environment is perfectly toasty already.

LemonysSnicket · 12/04/2018 23:26

Then again we sleep naked, with eye masks with a down duvet and a fan on....so we’re weird. I’ve been known to have a hot water bottle and a fan on at the same time.

user1471517900 · 12/04/2018 23:29

30 moms?! Sounds like Lemony has quite the party going on.
