Lovely neighbourhood kids came calling the other night at bedtime and i told them , very nicely, that older dc wasnt coming out and would they mind not calling after he'd come in because toddler dc goes to bed early? Yes of course, all smiles, thanks very much.

Then earlier as youngest was settling down despite not liking his pyjamas, i heard them laughing outside, followed by a bang on the door and repeated doorbell. They were gone when I looked out but I popped out to check the car was locked and saw th

I know you didn’t get to finish this but YANBU, I know exactly what you mean. Did you mean to put lovely as “lovely” though? That’s the scenario IME.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 12/04/2018 21:06

Pressed too soon OP? Grin

MallorieArcher · 12/04/2018 21:16

Slightly worried the lovely kids have got opShock

Katchit · 12/04/2018 21:18

What's wrong with the pyjamas?

Longdistance · 12/04/2018 21:19

The lovely kids were swallowed up by a sinkhole???? 😂

DidNotThinkItWouldHappenHere · 12/04/2018 21:34

I think op might have been too, Longdistance!

ineedamoreadultieradult · 12/04/2018 21:37

Omg what have the lovely kids done to OP, I think she must have seen too much when she was checking the car was locked and had to be got rid of!

mikado1 · 12/04/2018 21:49

Oh God sorry Blush

Pressed create too soon and then took a call!!

Anyway I spoke tp them v calmly and said id askrd them not to call, that they'd banged on the door and rung bell. I was annoyed obviously. They looked a bit shame faced and I came in.

Front window open and I could hear one of their dad's absolutely roaring and a dc crying, almost in convulsions. I wish now I'd been more nicey nice but I was wrecked and in need of bedtime!

P.S. pyjamas was not nice according to 2yo, though he picked it 20mins earlier!

I thought this was going to be about a miraculous heavenly thunderbolt punishing the youthful transgressors.

Cockmagic · 12/04/2018 22:59

What time was all this? How old are your DC?

GentleJones · 12/04/2018 23:07

Neighbourhood kids can be a joy but also a pita, especially when no amount of ‘little Johnny isn’t coming out to play tonight’ just doesn’t sink in. Five minutes later ‘knock, knock, tap, tappety, tap...

Used to drive me insane but one of the worse ones has since moved on and peace is again restored.

I feel your pain op.

Was the dad bollocking his dc for disturbing you? I hope so! It is well out of order.

mikado1 · 12/04/2018 23:36

I wasn't being sarcastic, they'd overall lovely kids.

They weren't calling, they were just banging and run followed by laughter and then they ran away, hence annoyance. I would have spoken to an adult that had annoyed me similarly i.e. I didn't lose it/wasn't shouty but God the dad's reaction was totally OTT and I'm dreading seeing him now.

To be honest if I found out one of my kids had been banging on neighbours doors & running off I would tear a strip off them too

AnitaLovesVictor · 12/04/2018 23:41

Oh god OP, yanbu - but I remember my mum having to go round to the neighbours about something their son had done - and the father was so aggressive (to the son) she wished she hadn't. Called him out the doorstep, was yelling 'what you been doing eh' and pulling him around by his Tshirt. She said it was awful.

The father dealing with it disproportionately was in the wrong, not you.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 12/04/2018 23:41

This. You were too nice OP

Beeziekn33ze · 12/04/2018 23:43

The dad may have overreacted because he was angry that you, his neighbour, has been disturbed.

mikado1 · 12/04/2018 23:43

Id also have see tolerance to it but this was out of the norm. .i think he knew I'd asked them not to

VladmirsPoutine · 12/04/2018 23:47

How did the dad know? I'm not following.
