To absolutely hate tiny collectible shitty toys

blondebuddha · 10/04/2018 12:21

DD3 is mad on all these little collectible shopkins hatchimals tsum tsum things, I can't stand them anymore they are taking over my house! Im sure they're breeding when I'm not around!

I don't mind the cute little Disney figurines, some are lovely and she genuinely appreciates every single one she has, she has collected tsums for a while and also has things like the duvets set and posters etc.

But then she came home from grandma's last week with a toy toilet that has little plastic germs and turds inside for her to collect all 3842 of and play with and now I'm drawing the line. Seriously who thinks these toys up?!

And they're advertised every 3 sodding minutes on all the kids channels so all I ever hear is ooh mummy can I please can I please can I please and then I get fleeced everytime we hit Sainsbury's!

I'm about to have a meltdown over a tiny plastic turd

So glad my dad hasn’t spotted these yet! Sounds like just the kind of thing I’d get nagged for too.

NameChanger22 · 10/04/2018 12:29

We have every collection ever made for the last 10 years. As we speak DD is busily collecting squishies. I regret buying all of them. I must have spent thousands on the things. But I collect stuff too, so I shouldn't be such a hypocrite. She loves them.

Mymouthgetsmeintrouble · 10/04/2018 12:34

I threw away a bin bag of zomlings as they had lost interest only for them to spend there pocket money on more they dont even play with them just want to buy it open packet then thats it gets dumped all over the house

dontticklethetoad · 10/04/2018 12:34

tiredteddy I'd bloody well tell your dad to grow up Wink Grin

I can't agree more op. Tiny plastic horrors Angry

Bananalanacake · 10/04/2018 12:37

Trick is to buy them 2nd hand. I got my dd1 a collection of trash pack toys from the local 2nd hand kids shop. And lots of Filly ponies from various baby 2nd hand sales, this way it's cheaper and you are recycling.

I've seen those toilet toys advertised here in Germany and won't be buying themConfused Sofiras dragons are cuter. Haven't heard of sum sums. Will have to Google.

ShowOfHands · 10/04/2018 12:37

DS played with his zomblings in the bath and put them away wet. They stink. I've bleached them, boiled them, dishwashered and laundered them. Nope. Still stinky feckers. DS is devastated about his precious collection. Bloody things.

TokyoSushi · 10/04/2018 12:40

I feel your pain, we have loads! Shopkins, zomlings, tsum tsums, nom noms, squishies, teenie genies, hatchimals, trolls, forever standing on the bloody things!

Sparklingbrook · 10/04/2018 12:41

Mine are teens now but we had years of 'Crazy Bones' followed by years of starting but never finishing Football sticker books.

DS1 is nearly 19 and was reading up after I joked whether he was going to start the latest Russia 2018 footy stickers like when he was small. To finish the collection would cost £750. Shock

TroubledTribble28 · 10/04/2018 12:42

I hear you op. We have a box of LOL dolls that once opened were quickly forgotten about Angry

WaitingForSunday17 · 10/04/2018 12:46

My dd is only 2 but adores shopkins. They stress me out from a choking point of view so I keep a VERY close eye. We've just got 250+ for £10 off FB, I'm using them for potty training! Every time she uses the potty she chooses a shopkin. She's played much much more with her shopkins than she ever has with any fisher price or vtech toy so I guess in terms of value for money shopkins have actually proved to be better. Ditto happyland - that's been completely ignored apart from to put shopkins in.

Ds however collects match attax and in sick to death of those. We have thousands of the things. Beyond looking at them once I dont think they hold any interest but he tends to use his pocket money to buy them.

Stopandlook · 10/04/2018 12:54

I kind of love the Shopkins and to be honest my girls play with them for hours and have done for more than two years. So although we have 100ish and I hate to think how much I’ve spent on them, probably more worth it than big presents they have had that quickly gathered dust...,

Singlebutmarried · 10/04/2018 12:56

We are overrun with shopkins, we also have trolls and hatchimals.

If it comes in a blind bag DD wants it.

Dizzylin · 10/04/2018 12:59

YANBU DD 7 loves them, she wouldn't go for the 2nd Hand ones because she loves opening the blind bags not knowing what she's going to get. You can bet 10 mins after opening them and a little play they just get put in her toy drawer and never played with again! Hate the things, really hoping she grows out of it soon.

Cagliostro · 10/04/2018 13:07

Stuff like this is one of the reasons I started giving the DCs pocket money. They know they are perfectly welcome to buy them - with their own money. Funnily enough they never have. :o

Although DD does spend hers on jojo bows 🙄 it’s her money (fiver a month) though so I can’t complain

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 10/04/2018 14:26

In this house it's grossary gang, minion mini's and star monsters.
I hate the little fuckers! 😂

I'm pretty sure the toilet ones will be a part of the collection soon

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 10/04/2018 15:07

This is why I love Cbeebies- no toy adverts.
DD(4) doesn't know most of these things exist at the moment but I know I won't be able to avoid all these daft crazes once she starts school.

PersianCatLady · 10/04/2018 15:23

Why does it cost £750??

SoftBlocks · 10/04/2018 15:27

YADNBU! Utter crap!

Badbadtromance · 10/04/2018 15:37

I feel for you op. I just stood on a nom nom and nearly broke my foot!

ijustwannadance · 10/04/2018 15:39

It's even more annoying when they get discontinued mid collection and you end up having to trawl ebay for specific ones.

I don't mind when DD can choose the ones she wants but I think blind bags are awful. She ends up wasting her money and getting the same ones again. Some things are £4-£5 each.

Worst ones now are squishy figures that come inside a plastic lollipop. £5 for one. It's eyes and nose rubbed off in minutes.

tiredteddy · 10/04/2018 15:42

Obvs meant my dd! Grin

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 10/04/2018 15:48

Mine are the same, dd2 especially loves the tsum tsums. I must admit I love the mlp blind bags Blush but that's because I love mlp...my little pony to you none super fans Grin

Tringley · 10/04/2018 15:51

Yadnbu. Ds fucking loves this shit and xh just buys him whatever he wants. For about two months he'll buy him several packs of whatever is the current obsession a week and then that stops and the next obsession starts. I have begged him to stop as they are just expensive future landfill with very limited playability. Buy him one proper toy each week if he has to, but please stop buying this shit. And he always agrees and then just goes out and buys more.

KellyBailey · 10/04/2018 15:52

I disagree, the worst ones we have had are the fecking Num Noms that have lip gloss inside and come open inside the toy box resulting in a sticky mess being spread across everything in there Angry. In terms of value for money my shit list award goes to LOL dolls, they are an utter rip off and I'm refusing to buy any more.

llangennith · 10/04/2018 15:56

Football sticker booksAngry What’s the point ffs???
