Make sure dh is the one to explain to mil.
Shame if she got a bad case of food poisoning (joking -or not, delete as applicable op!)

GunnyHighway · 01/04/2018 13:23

Yep man makes an innocent mistake then execution seems proportional

AnneProtheroe · 01/04/2018 13:26

So pour yourself a glass of wine and when mil arrives just say that lunch is a bit delayed. Most people would understand.

Whatthefunk · 01/04/2018 13:35

I'm busy mopping up the blood Grin
Then I shall enjoy a large glass of wine

i dont find jokes about domestic violence funny at all.

many mn members have suffered horrifically from this and i dont think it is a suitable topic for slightly light hearted joke

have a word with yourself

Haffiana · 01/04/2018 13:48

I personally find people telling others what they should or shouldn't find funny verging on bullying.

.... and some are vegetarian... don't have MILs any more, or DMs... aren't Christian... don't drink alcohol.... can't afford a leg of lamb... lost their DH to death or an OW....

Not sure any woman should be trying so hard to emotionally blackmailing another into shutting up!

Have a word with your own good self, Araiwa. Less aggression, more explanation might work out better!

Geoff1969 · 01/04/2018 13:49

araiwa is right. Can't imagine a man joking about wanting to kill his wife and it being allowed to stand.

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 01/04/2018 13:50

Ignore the ridiculously offended PP. Kill him, this kind of lack of attention to detail drives me mad.

It's ok OP, it's Easter. Kill the bastard he'll rise again anyway.
has now offended Christians for a full house

Oddcat · 01/04/2018 13:52

After reading another thread where someone said something quite normal and the other person was offended , I think I shall remain forever mute in case I offend someone !

This is light hearted - and I say this as a woman that had seven shades of shit knocked out of me by my ex.

Bluelady · 01/04/2018 13:52

Oh ffs. I often tell mine he's going under the patio if he's not careful.

araiwa · 01/04/2018 13:53

i stated i dont find domestic abuse funny and that i doubt other sufferers do either

i think that is a non aggressive explanation of my position

if you find it funny, good on ya

Oddcat · 01/04/2018 13:54

I think it's funny .

Idontdowindows · 01/04/2018 13:55

i stated i dont find domestic abuse funny and that i doubt other sufferers do either

One has already said that she did, so shrug.

TheJoyOfSox · 01/04/2018 13:55

DH can explain why lunch is going to be an hour later than planned.

Whatthefunk · 01/04/2018 13:56

Hahaha! Thanks for the giggles. And rest assured, Dh is fine and dandy and engaging in polite conversation with Dmil, while I plate up/ get pissed, in the kitchen

OP posts:
CuriousaboutSamphire · 01/04/2018 13:57

That may be so, Geoff... but the old saying "you kill more flies with honey" springs to mind.

And I still don't think that trying to silence a woman with emotional blackmail is ever a good tactic.

MorningsEleven · 01/04/2018 13:57

Is this where we all pile on and blame your MIL for producing a fuckwit? 😉

Abouttoblow · 01/04/2018 13:57

The professionally offended are out in force today! Hmm
Too much sugar maybe?

Maybe turn the lamb into kebabs OP ?

Oddcat · 01/04/2018 13:58

I don't find domestic abuse at all funny but I can tell the difference between someone making a light hearted comment and someone making fun of actual real life abuse.

Funnyblastard · 01/04/2018 13:59

Always amazed at the people out looking to be purposely offended.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 01/04/2018 14:00

I don’t find domestic abuse funny.

I do find very common sayings such as ‘I might have to kill my DH’ or ‘I need to bury a body under the patio’ or ‘I’ll. throttle you!’ ... lighthearted and perfectly acceptable, because I have the sense to know the difference.

I feel very sorry for those who don’t. Life must be very difficult when you choose to take offence at every little bloody thing.
