I’ve broken my bum

I fell down the stairs and whacked my right bum cheek on the step. The pain was horrendous. I can’t sit down! But worse than that it’s left a big step shaped imprint/dent on my bum. There’s nothing there to break is there? I’m quite fat and I can move so don’t think it’s my pelvis. It’s just like the fat with a dent in it. It’s not getting any better a few hours later.

If it's more swollen, hot and painful you need to get it properly checked out, don't leave it.

I would go to the gp. It doesn't sound right at all.

There's loads of muscles in bum cheeks isn't there? Could you have bruised or torn the muscle? Sorry if this has been mentioned before I've not read the whole thread

I did the same years ago. Had just got to a warehouse party, perfectly straight and sober and slipped down wooden stairs. It wasn't particularly painful but the next day there was a definite horizontal split through one buttock. It's been about 15 years and I can still see it. It was very shelf like for many years.
Squats won't fix it but will disguise it.
It's a weird injury, I've not met anyone else it happened to.

Just to clarify , we don't X-ray for ? Fractured coccyx as the treatment is the same whether it's broken or not. Same for rib fractures , unless lung damage is suspected.

I bounced down some metal steps in 1992. Had the most fabulous bruise. I was 18 at the time and too embarrassed to tell anyone. I ended up with a lump on my buttock which is more noticeable if I don’t excercise and I’m flabbier than usual. I’ve had a twingey coccyx ever since as well.
