To think this is NOT how you clean up dog piss?

New dog, still getting the hand of toilet training and she has a small accident once every few days.

DH's turn to clean it up today, and I discovered that his preferred method is to fill a bowl with soapy water, mop up the piss, wring the pissy cloth into the clean water, then swab the murky piss-water around the floor.

DH thinks I'm being overly precious, and failing to appreciate his dog-piss-cleaning prowess. AIBU?

Jesus hope you had a good (dry) night.

I’m presuming you’ve already taken her to the vet to rule out medical issues? Can the rescue centre offer any advice? Or a behaviourist?

We’re on the waiting list to adopt, and whilst I’m really looking forward to having a dog again, I know we’ll have some problems. Luckily there’s a dog expert in the village who has offered to help.

Eee All OK. She is dry every night so far, which makes me think it's probably not medical. It's hard to discern a pattern, but all incidents do seem to happen when she's feeling a bit unsettled, e.g lots of comings and goings, changes in routine. Obviously we're trying to keep things as calm as possible, but only up to a point as we have to be able to go about our lives. We've taken all advice on board and have been doing frequent trips outside, a 'wee command' and special cleaning fluid. Fingers crossed....

When I still lived at home, we got new puppies and this was my dad's exact same method of cleaning up wee! Vile. Mum and I used to soak it up with paper towels first. I asked him if he'd do the same with blood as that would leave obvious pink smears everywhere if you just dilute it, I think he thought the wee was gone because he couldn't see it any more! It didn't have any effect, he carried on doing it his way because he was a man and knew best.
