Used AIBU for traffic. Being on maternity then going back to work part time means I'm trying to cut costs. One being my make up bag as I cant afford to be spending £28 on foundation anymore. Up to now I have found miss sporty mascara for £4 to be just as good as other mascaras. AIBU to ask for your beauty bargains? And what you previously used before? Really want to find a cheaper foundation currently using Clinique even better which I really like it's just too expensive for me now.

I was going to say miss sporty mascara! I like MUA from Superdrug and love Nivea tinted moisturiser rather than foundation. Rimmel 60 second shine for my nails is fab with a clear topcoat.

UtterlyDesperate · 29/03/2018 14:41

I really like Maybelline - Perfect Skin or something like that? 9.99 when not on offer. And also Max Factor Infinity for more coverage.

George liquid eyeliner from Asda is also excellent.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 29/03/2018 15:07

Pretty much anything made by Rimmel is a winner for me, especially foundation. Also it's all usually 3for2.

Make Up Revolution is amazing for concealer (their new one is a dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape concealer and it's about £4 I think? Might be less). They're also great for blush, highlighter and bronzer.

Maybelline is my go to for eyeliner pens.

Primark have some really nice bits in their beauty department now. I regularly buy their pressed powders for setting.

Anything really specific you were thinking of and I'll try and recommend things?

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 29/03/2018 15:48

I have never had a bad product from the MUA range at superdrug. Nail varnish from poundland is surprisingly good as well.

Littlebitty · 29/03/2018 16:35

Nyx for micro eyebrow pencil, liquid liner and Makeup Revolution for their eyeshadow palettes (dupes for Urban Decay Naked palettes), boots no 7 foundation... tbh I use these more than my more expensive make up. Only exception is Mac lipstick and face powder!Smile

Teutonic · 29/03/2018 16:41

Nivea post shave balm fluid for men is the best primer I've ever used under foundation. It makes foundation stay all day.

I've managed to convert my daughter and several friends into using it.

It's a steal compared to actual primers.

I also use pound shop mascara for the first coat before applying my usual one. Makes my more expensive one last longer.
Plus supermarket own brand baby oil for make up remover.

angelnix · 29/03/2018 16:47

Primark make up range is really good, I highly rate their primer. My daughter's both dance and do a lot of stage work and this is the best primer that I've used. Their make up stays put all day despite dancing so much. Their lip glosses are great aswell and stay put well.

I like Rimmel cream eyeshadows aswell and you can usually get them on 3 for 2 at Superdrug.

Poundland make up remover wipes are great, 2 packets for £1 and one wipe removes a whole face of make up.

Jetwashingsquirrels · 29/03/2018 17:05

NYX lipsticks are fantastic and I've always found Superdrug really good for just wandering about and finding cheap bits. Their I

CheshireChat · 29/03/2018 17:23

Also you can find branded makeup (Rimmel, Bourjois, Loreal, NYC) at £shop and Home Bargains and the like. Obviously complete luck of the draw, but still really satisfying.

kw1091 · 29/03/2018 17:56

I’m a strictly high end girl but have recently been converted by Makeup revolutions new foundation and concealer. They’re actually amazing!

SerenDippitty · 29/03/2018 17:59

Olay ProVital anti wrinkle day (spf15) and night creams. RRP £10 each but they’re on offer at half price so often that I never pay full price for them, just stock up whenever I see them on offer.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 29/03/2018 18:07

I've recently discovered beautyoutlets.co.uk

They sell stila products for a fraction of the price including foundation for £10.

Otherwise I'm a purely drug store girl with MUA and makeup revolution being my favourite brands (and cruelty free).

wildbhoysmama · 29/03/2018 18:56

Avon super matte lipsticks are brilliant. Just as good as Mac and around a fiver. Fresh fig is my fave colour.Maybelline never goes wrong for me: Anti-age eye eraser is phenomenal £10 but often on offer for 6-7 ish ( far better than touche eclat- i have converted my 2 touche eclat devotee friends) and super stay primer is great - £10, better than the Lancome I used for years. I can't replace my Elizabeth Arden foundation but i can get it online for about £12-15 if I'm lucky.

The essence range at wilko is loved both by beauty editors and the online community. I'll list below few of their star buys

  1. Lash princess false lash effect mascara. £3.30
Recently there was a news item about this mascara with hundreds of people on reddit saying how much they loved it
  1. Eyeshadow pallette. £4. They have names like 'all about nudes' which have a huge fanbase and the beauty boffs at cosmo magazine rave about them
  1. Make me brow. £2.99. Rave reviews online
  1. Eyeshadow primer. About 3 quid. Great reviews

Other cheap but excellent product

  1. Collection Lasting perfection concealer. Under 5 quid. One of the most raved about product on YouTube
  1. Boots 3 in 1 blending sponge. £3.60. As good as real techniques sponge imo
  1. No7 hot cloth cleanser. £10 but get half off with vouchers they always give out. Personal favourite
  1. Simple micellar water. £7. Usually half price. Sali Hughes who writes for the guardian loves this

I have loads more. But one thing that has saved me loads of money over the years is using soap instead of body wash. I swapped for environmental reasons but have realised how much money it saves. Last so much longer than body wash also. I use it with a shower scrunchie and it lathers up a treat. Dove soap is moisturising and won't leave you dry but i use lidl soap 80p for 4 and it's fine.

I also use soap instead of handwash again for environmental reasons and it saves loads of money and lasts ages. Making these two swaps alone will save a small fortune and you won't forever have to remember to keep stocking up. And no more plastic bottles chucked away.

Oswin · 29/03/2018 19:08

Wilko essense mascara.
Make up revolution, love it. They have just released a new pro range that apparently very good.

T2517 · 29/03/2018 19:26

Catrice concealer (find it on amazon or in Europe) is AMAZING. Better than expensive ones and is about £4. Fragrancedirect has loads of end of line cosmetics and perfumes that are total bargains. Revolution is great for eyeshadow palettes.

PossiblyPFB · 29/03/2018 19:33

The various La Roche de Posay BB creams are fab, around £15 full price but often on special in Boots. Fabulous texture, natural but really flattering concealing coverage and lasts forever..... I haven’t looked back.

Lulusmother · 29/03/2018 19:34

I'm another Wilko fan... foundation is about £4, eye liners are brill and they have great eye shadows and lippies ....

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 29/03/2018 19:39

This foundation is excellent and often on 3 for 2 in Superdrug. www.superdrug.com/Bourjois/Bourjois-Healthy-Mix-Serum-Foundation-Vanille-Clair-51/p/300354
I also like Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara and Collection Lasting Perfection concealer can’t be beaten on price for coverage.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 29/03/2018 21:51

Superdrug is currently having their 3 for 2 on all makeup. Always a good opportunity to stock up on essentials.

MoorMummy · 29/03/2018 21:55

Ok so....
Aldi face creams and eye gels, brilliant. ditto their nail stuff and fake Liz Earle hot cloth wash. L’Oréal make up, All of it. That’s it’s really. Used to be a Clinique girl but I don’t miss any of it.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 29/03/2018 21:56

The new skincare range at Sainsbury is great too. Think it's my skin or similar. The misceller water is fab at £2.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 29/03/2018 21:57

Love these threads always on look out for a recommendation

GrannyGrissle · 29/03/2018 22:00

Fragrancedirect, Allbeauty and Saveonmakeup
All great sites for bargain makeup and beauty.

Babymamamama · 29/03/2018 22:02

I bought a Poundland pink nail polish and top coat yesterday. Brilliant and a quid each. Really lovely smooth finish.
