There is so much uncertainty surrounding what will happen with trade deals and goodness knows what else, that I’m starting to wonder about making some sensible plans.

We have put a stop to some planned works we wanted to do to our house, we have downsized to one car and we grow a small amount of veg. We keep some stocks of food in the house but we have a large family so I never feel like we’d have enough.
We have discussed not taking a holiday this summer and DH is taking every training course possible at work in order to diversify his skills should his industry go tits up.

I’m wondering what decisions you’re making in your homes for what could possibly be a really uncertain time for a few years.

Whilst that all sounds sensible, I would point out that if everyone cancels things like building works and holidays, and never eats out etc, that's not going to help the economy either... happy medium perhaps!

We live in Spain and are taking citizenship here.

To be honest I think some of your planning is a bit extreme but I most know your circumstances and f it makes you feel better then why not?
DH is trying to reactivate his German citizenship that he gave up as a child, he can hold Dual apparently but we aren’t sure about me and the dc yet. I don’t want to move out if the UK at the moment but we are trying to ensure that if it becomes necessary we can. DH can easily work in Germany anyway even if work dries up here

I do get that carry but equally the work we were planning to have done to our house isn’t “necessary” and a real luxury. We have just replaced our roof which certainly want a luxury!

Oh ya know, the usual underground doomsday bunker, nothing special or too showy.

Clearing any debts I have as soon as possible, but I'd be doing that anyway. I'm on a low income and already struggling with the rising prices, so need to make sure I'm not still paying for debts if everything gets more expensive

Why on earth have you stopped doing work to your house?

well I'm continuing to breathe, eat, work and sleep with the odd bit of fun things thrown in. Should i be stockpiling for armageddon.

Just having a quick vacuum and shoving everything else in the cupboard. HTH.

We have started building an underground shelter and have lots of tins of beans in there.

We also have weapons, in case zombies arrive.

I am preparing by thinking about fixing my mortgage for 5 years..or should I do two - and then fix just before we exit...hmmm

other than that - I am considering buying a property in a small self sufficient village with solid fuel and a large garden and outbuildings so I can start hoarding bread and milk.

Honestly I’m not going down the zombie prepping route with this at all however I think if the government haven’t got a clue what’s going on then I want some control in how my family get through it all.

Downsizing, growing veg and stockpiling food?? Seriously??? I don't know anyone who is that worked up but then we don't live in London so don't have to worry about 250k being knocked off the value of our house.

Applying for Irish passport for DH as well as Canadian passports for our children (I'm Canadian). Having a better financial 'cushion' in case one of us looses their jobs - although the job loss itself might be linked more to 'austerity measures' rather than Brexit, as we are both working in schools.

It's Brexit not the apocalypse! I'm going to prepare by doing absolutely nothing different. It's behaviour like yours which is going to cause more problems with the economy. We will survive Brexit. We aren't the only country in the world not to be a part of the EU!

Unicorn because £55k would be better put aside should my business or my husband’s job be impacted by any long term financial difficulties, than on a loft conversion.

Op, what's the point of worrying about it?

I'm a SAHM/student atm but I want to be a 'UK tax payer' in March 2019. The biggest thing is probably that I quit my job and started an MSc as I can just about afford it now but couldn't if after Brexit I became an 'international student'.

Will eventually get DS an Italian passport so he can have EU benefits.

I’m buying a stable, I’ll need it for the unicorn I’ll be getting once Brexits gone through.

In reality, not much I can do. Pay off the mortgage as soon as humanly possible.

I'm mostly putting the angry face emoji on brexit posts.

Well if the airline industry is grounding all their planes I’m going to get on with building a large ship in the garden and charging extortionate fares for those that want to travel to Boulogne.
