And whether you tend to lose/gain or maintain your weight?

Unless I monitor every single mouthful I take I seem to gain weight. Just wondering if what I normally eat is that much different to other people.

OP posts:

I don’t have a typical day. I have to average my calories over a month because some days I eat loads, some days not many, today has been a bad day:

B - belvita duo and nutri grain
L - homemade soup and pasty
D - 1/4 of a pineapple and picked at my son’s kfc
S - Bakewell tart (small) and half an Easter egg. Two smarties

Raver84 · 13/03/2018 18:42

I maintain my weight of 9 stone 4lns. I eat mostly the samended each day.

Breakfast porridge or cereal
I weigh the correct 40g portion.

Lunch 2 pieces of fruit and a veg stir fry with out noodles . Or egg on toast. Followed by a fun size twix or a naked bar.

Dinner home made curry or chilli or some grilled meat and veg sometimes a salad with chicken. I don't really eat any carbs with my dinner. At least half my plate is veg

Before bed I have a huge slice of cake or maybe three or four fun size bars of chocolate. As I'm breastfeeding this sees me through night feeds.

I exercise for 45 mins a day either running or dvd. Every day.

CoffeenoTea · 13/03/2018 18:44

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/03/2018 18:47

Today I’ve had a shake made with almond milk, berries, peanut butter and maca powder; lunch was an ounce of cheese and 2 slices of ham, cherry toms and cucumber, I’ve had 4 cups of coffee, 5 pints of water, and dinner was homemade chilli with mince and loads of mixed beans, tinned toms and served with veg with 15g of cheese on it (small portion, even by my measly diet standard!)- came to 1050 cals, just over 50g carbs. I ran 4K on the treadmill, and did 16k steps.

I’m dieting at the moment, losing 2-3lb a week. Tomorrow is a resting day from running, so I’ll probably have similar meals except a less carby tea (maybe chicken wrapped in ham with green veg?)

These threads always end up the same way- such a broad spectrum of diets and calorie needs. It’s impossible to judge your intake in what other people eat.

BigFatGoalie · 13/03/2018 18:52

Breakfast: 1 grapefruit and tea with skimmed milk

Lunch: salad with salmon or lean ham

Dinner: steak, salad, cottage cheese

No snacking inbetween, LOTS of tea and some Pepsi max to keep me sane!
I’m 5.6 and weigh 8 stone as I have a young baby. Although I prefer to be under 8 stone.
No carbs, no sugar, and the weight falls off!

boboismylove · 13/03/2018 18:56

@bigfatgoalie - 8 stone doesn't sound much for your height! I think I'm 8 stone and I'm 5ft, size 8.

Lucisky · 13/03/2018 19:01

I had 3 shortbread biscuits and a cup of tea for breakfast
Egg and cress sandwich for lunch.
Homemade spag bol with garlic bread and a lemon mousse for tea.(Oh, and two glasses of wine)

MrsJBaptiste · 13/03/2018 19:09

Breakfast - scrambled eggs
Lunch - homemade soup/ham & cheese salad/leftover chilli, bolognaise, etc.
Tea - chicken or fish & veg/spag bol/chilli/curry *

  • No pasta or rice, just the bolognaise or curry

I've been low carbing but am slowly introducing them to not lose any more weight.

I'm 5' 9" and weight 68kg (I can't remember if this was asked in the original OP!)

BigFatGoalie · 13/03/2018 19:10

@bobo, it is pretty slim, but that where I feel my most comfortable. I like to weight train and be strong, lean etc. Not there right now as DD3 is still tiny. I’m healthy though! And weekends are for pizza and ice cream...

BuzzKillington · 13/03/2018 19:13

If I am at work, I eat no breakfast, a salad or soup from Pret for lunch (try to stick to 300 cals or less) and then something like salmon or chicken with baked veg for dinner.

I eat whatever I like at the weekend.

This is how I maintain my weight.

paperdreams16 · 13/03/2018 19:29

Breakfast is usually peanut butter on toast/Greek yoghurt with fruit and honey/porridge and banana with a tea or coffee

Lunch is typically a salad, I was working from home today so I had baked kale, roasted peppers, mushroom and tomatoes, avocado, sweetcorn, bit of leftover rice and 2 veggie sausages. Fruit after.

Dinner tonight will be fish pie and veg, usually have something like stir fry, spag bol, fajitas, curry, egg fried rice, some kind of pasta dish, roast etc.

I snack on fruit, oat cakes, raw veg or just a hot drink. I can't have just one bit of chocolate or one biscuit as I go mad and eat the whole thing/packet so I'm trying to cut those out, cold turkey is the only thing that works for me.

Iusedtobecarmen · 13/03/2018 19:39

Passthecake30 · 13/03/2018 19:40

Bmi 19.5 here

Museli, seeds, mixed berrries
Banana, grapes
Salad, crackers
Nuts, Apple,
Cream egg/hot choc/cake/crisps/liquorice (one or two treats per day generally)

Ansumpasty · 13/03/2018 19:51

This thread makes me feel like the biggest pig. I'm slim but with wobbly tummy from having babies. Size 8 and about 120lbs. I maintain my normal size but I have IBS and poo a lot sooo... Blush

Today I've eaten:

3 pieces of toast and 2 poached eggs
Piece of cheese
Big handful of Reeces chocolate cups
Tuna/mayo/cucumber sandwiches
Bag of crisps
More Reece's chocolates
Mini dohnut
Pot noodle (the fancy type)
Spaghetti with garlic bread and green beans
Couple of olives
I have one of those Sainsbury's taste the difference all butter and sultana scones for tonight and some Danish blue cheese and crackers

I've embarrassed myself writing that down.

stillfeel18inside · 13/03/2018 19:56

I’m 8st 9lbs and 5 for 4 and not on a diet but try to eat reasonably healthily but do like treats! I’ve had:
Skinny latte
Banana and one of those wholesome ish nut bars

Maybe another choc or two!

BaldricksTrousers · 13/03/2018 19:57

I have IBS and several other health disorders. I follow a low fat non dairy diet. I have lost 9 stone in a year.

For breakfast I have a bowl of plain porridge with almond milk, sweetener, banana and dedicated coconut. Or a bowl of rice crispies with sweetener and banana and almond milk.

Snack: green tea and pack of go ahead biscuits.

Lunch: bowl of heinz no sugar added beans and rye crackers, or a salad with chicken, or soup.

Snack: green tea, apple, raisins, salt and vinegar rice cakes.

Dinner: usually a portion of fish or chicken, brown rice or couscous, and lots of green veg.

Later: herbal tea, grapes, sometimes non-choc sweets, sometimes blueberry and vanilla rice cakes.

BaldricksTrousers · 13/03/2018 20:00

Forgot to add--I don't weigh myself but went from size 16-18 to a size 10.

Ansumpasty · 13/03/2018 20:05

Baldricks Have you tried cutting out all oats and tea/coffee? They are absolute killers for my IBS. I also can't eat corn or lettuce/kale but nothing screws with my stomach like porridge/museli/flapjacks. Just a thought!

Sorry for derailing thread, op!

halfwitpicker · 13/03/2018 20:06

Today I've had :

Two scrambled eggs
Thin slice toast and peanut butter

Coffee and milk
Large coffee at work

Four melba toast crackers with peanut butter

Lunch was 3/4 of a chicken fillet, small bowl homemade soup, half a cup of cottage cheese and four more crackers

Dinner will be 1/3 thin pizza, big salad and small glass of wine

This is a typical day for me. I'm 5'5 and just under 10 stone. I find lower carb higher protein works best for me.

noeffingidea · 13/03/2018 20:16

This is my usual weekday, though I have ate a whole box of chocolates today.
Breakfast - 1 slice of wholemeal toast (no butter), half a tin of baked beans, 1 poached egg. I eat this after swimming, about 11 am
Afternoon snack - yoghurt, fruit
Tea - salad, tin of mackerel or houmous or cheese, new potatoes. Or lentil stew, pasta with pesto and peas, or similar.
Evening snack - 1-2 slices of wholemeal toast, butter, jam or marmalade.
Lost 3 stones over the last 18 months, want to lose another stone.
I eat like this nearly all the time now, it's simple, cheap, I don't feel hungry, feel fit and strong.

RoseGoldRosie · 13/03/2018 20:26

I go one way or the other - so:

Chicken salad
Chicken/ prawn stir fry

And that's it. No carbs whatsoever, and v little fat. Or:

Toast with loads of butter
Chicken and chorizo (red onion, sweetcorn) sandwich with crisps and a chocolate bar
Some form of takeaway
Loads of wine

Rarely somewhere in the middle Blush really unhealthy I know. I guess I'm maintaining, but am trying to lose (a stone overweight). Just no willpower.

KnittingOnEmpty · 13/03/2018 20:31

Today I had :
2 weetabix and semi skimmed & 1 tea, then 1 coffee au lait
Pkt ready salted crisps
2 lemon Danish (they were on offer in Waitrose, couldn't eat just one they were too yummy)

apple crumble/custard
Can San Miguel

Today wasn't 'normal' but we had parents evening and were back late.
I'm about 9 stone, 5'5, active job.
