To mess with abandoned trollies?

Dannii689 · 11/03/2018 00:23

I cannot stand abandoned shopping trollies in supermarkets...as a wheelchair user I find it difficult enough to navigate the aisles when it's busy etc, without people's carts lying in the way. I tend to react passive aggressively to this, and either hide their trollies or add lots of items to them. It is a way of venting to me. If I get pulled up by said trolley abandoner, I usually remind them that trollies have wheels and can go where they go too.

That's hilarious! I just move them but adding random shit sounds better.

Springtrolls · 11/03/2018 00:29

I mess with them as well including moving them to other aisles. Also, start to put any frozen and fridge foods back.
I look shocked when I get caught and say oh I thought it was abandoned as no one was around.

I also mess about with the security. When I notice I am being followed I lead them on a wild goose chase.

Probably why most staff at the supermarkets are glad I rarely go in Grin

😂 brilliant!

Synecdoche · 11/03/2018 00:33

NewYearNewMe18 You've obviously never seen my ram at high speed technique...

Thinking about your comment, have you ever seen a wheelchair user use a wheelchair before? 🤔

ScreamingValenta · 11/03/2018 00:35

I've never seen any abandoned trolleys inside the supermarkets I frequent. Why would someone abandon their trolley mid-shop?

DalekDalekDalek · 11/03/2018 00:37

I used to add things to peoples trolleys who had been rude to me. I was working in the supermarket at the time though! Blush

Challenge yourself to hide the biggest thing that you can get away with. My best was a fuck off big strawberry gateau! Also embarrassing things work too. Loads and loads of condoms and lubricant. Works particularly well with old people!

Dannii689 · 11/03/2018 00:38

@newyear I use one hand to manoeuvre chair (it's electric) and the other hand to hold onto trolley. Never thought I'd have to explain that lol.

Dannii689 · 11/03/2018 00:40

I added an entire shelf of instant noodles to one today. Was particularly annoyed at that one as it was left bloody sideways!

DalekDalekDalek · 11/03/2018 00:41

You wouldn't be able to push a normal trolley,

Bit patronising.

Did you know, wheelchair users are allowed out on their own now too!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 11/03/2018 00:45

I'm afraid I know exactly what you mean, because I'm a trolley-abandoner.

I apologise. I never thought about wheelchair users. And (to be fair), I'm able to do my supermarket shop mid-week, which is quieter, so the aisles aren't clogged up.

@ScreamingValenta and to anyone else who doesn't understand; what I do is push my trolley along, filling as I go. Then I realize, I forgot X, so I leave the trolley half way down the aisle and wander back up. It's always within my sight (because my handbag is in it).... I don't leave the aisle it's on. But I do leave it.

I will take this on board and not do so again. Apologise from this chastened shopper Blush

Dannii689 · 11/03/2018 00:45

@dalekdalekdalek lmao! Thank you 😂

OP posts:
Coolaschmoola · 11/03/2018 00:45

Well it's unlikely that the shopper puts them back properly if they notice, and if they don't realise until they get to the checkout they will dump stuff there...

So yay you for making unnecessary extra work for shop assistants on minimum wage. Hmm

Please don't ever do it with refrigerated or frozen goods - because your petty act would result in any food dumped elsewhere ending up in the bin.

Dannii689 · 11/03/2018 00:47

@keepservingthedrinks, that is okay, thank you for taking on board!

Dannii689 · 11/03/2018 00:48

@coolaschmoola party pooper. 😂

ScreamingValenta · 11/03/2018 00:49

@KeepServingTheDrinks Ah, I drag mine with me when that happens! Probably just as annoying in its own way. I thought OP meant abandoning in the sense of owner nowhere to be seen for ages.

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 11/03/2018 00:50

I can understand why you would be annoyed but do you think that what you are doing changes anything?

DalekDalekDalek · 11/03/2018 00:50

Cool

The staff do it as well. Most of them won't mind taking things back.

We used to play a game at Christmas called "Pass the Pud". You had to sneak up an aisle that someone was working in without them seeing and leave a Christmas pudding on their trolley (the ones staff use when replenishing) and then get out of the aisle without being seen. They then have to pass it on without being seen. The Christmas pudding would travel all over the shop throughout a shift. Person still with it at the end of the shift looses.

blankpieceofpaper · 11/03/2018 00:51

My mum has mobility issues and might often leave the trolley for a moment to go and get something. She walks slowly. Doing that to her trolley would make her shop that little bit more difficult and shit, thanks.

NotAllTimsWearCapes · 11/03/2018 00:51

So yay you for making unnecessary extra work for shop assistants on minimum wage. hmm

Don’t be silly. It’s not extra work. It’s just different work than what they would otherwise be doing during that time. (Former shop assistant here) they get paid the same whether they are putting stock back to the right place or helping a customer or moving baskets or standing chatting with their mates ignoring customers

Having mobility issues, and being registered disabled is not 'cute.' But your pithy sentiments disclose all that is required to conclude further discourse would be futile.

DalekDalekDalek · 11/03/2018 01:02

blankpieceofpaper I guess trolleys being abandoned in her way doesn't help her much when getting around the shop then?

Dannii Your challenge should you chose to accept it. One box of economy tissues, a tube of KY jelly, a dirty mag (sorry you might need assistance getting it down from the top shelf) and a bag of Doritos in one trolley during your next shop.

Snoreyhell · 11/03/2018 01:03

OP, do you abandon your own trolley to enable you to move theirs???
