Is this a bit weird and desperate?

Was out at a drinks festival thing yesterday - my friends were chatting to guys and I wasn’t but was quite plastered (!) so just thought fuck it and ended up approaching men who I liked the look of. I believe the line I used was “are you Irish?” To start the conversation. Quite a good success rate in fairness!

Ami weird and beyond help? A lot of alcohol was consumed along with not much food

Yes

LolitaLempicka · 25/02/2018 20:55

Weird opening line, yes. But why would it be weird to talk to people?

ButDoYouAvocado · 25/02/2018 20:55

Not especially. Your chat up line needs work but I'm not really sure what your aibu is?

DullAndOld · 25/02/2018 20:57

sounds OK to me, as long as you are young..I wouldn't get away with it but then I am in my 50s and nobody likes a drunken old woman...:)

DullAndOld · 25/02/2018 20:57

did you get off with anyone?

Sallysollyfilly · 25/02/2018 20:58

Im 25...

OP posts:
Sallysollyfilly · 25/02/2018 20:58

Yes I did!

OP posts:
Lj8893 · 25/02/2018 20:59

Hahaha I have used a lot worse chat up lines in the past!

DullAndOld · 25/02/2018 20:59

high five!

Sallysollyfilly · 25/02/2018 21:02

Haha thanks ;)

The other thing I am really concerned about is that I get quite insecure and low after a few drinks (this is new and probably linked to my anxiety). I end up asking people if they think I’m attractive which I’m mortified about BlushSad Not a good look. Just got hangover shame and feeling quite weird about it. I got someone’s number and we were chatting shit about seeing each other again and now I just feel humiliated about all the weird things I definitely said to him!

OutyMcOutface · 25/02/2018 21:05

Don't worry. I loose all sense of decorum when drunk. Don't drink much for that reason.

DalekDalekDalek · 25/02/2018 21:06

I doubt that that was the worst thing anyone did there while drunk last night! I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you kept all your clothes on in public and didn't do anything illegal you're ok!

spugzbunny · 25/02/2018 21:36

Ah the hangover anxiety. It comes with age that. Its definitely and alcohol related thing and the only way to fix it is food and sleep.

As with all things anxiety based - what would you think of a friend or a stranger who behaved in that way? You'd probably, at worst, think it was funny and immediately completely forget about it!

ReasonableLlama · 25/02/2018 21:39

Ooof the beer fear! I don't miss that!

Chances are they probably had a few too and don't remember half of what you said or don't remember it being weird.

Doesn't sound like you offended, hurt or killed anyone so don't worry!

Usernamenew · 25/02/2018 21:41

Sounds like you had fun OP and no crime committed. Don't waste the fun night you had by worrying. Everyone else will probably be dealing with their own hangover anxiety and not giving your antics a second thought.

Sallysollyfilly · 26/02/2018 13:49

He’s asked me out for a drink. I was so weird. I sagely told him I was looking for a husband. FML. How to play this? Do I just act very nonchalant and like I have no memories of the original night (which in fairness I don’t)

OP posts:
Usernamenew · 26/02/2018 19:06

Looking for a husband 😂😂. Sorry, so funny. Just act normally. He is obviously keen whatever you've said. Maybe we might hear wedding bells 😂😂

Lifeisabeach09 · 26/02/2018 19:11

Haha.
Sounds ok, OP. We all do crazy shit when we're drunk and sounds like you were quite successful.:D
I wouldn't worry about what you said. He'll either not be bothered by it and go on a date with you or run a mile. Either way, you'll know the score.
Have fun and chill!!!

Sallysollyfilly · 26/02/2018 19:50

I got this message back

“Think I might be free on weds if you are? Have technically got a work thing but I’m doing my best to get out of it. Another night with you sounds like a much better option to me!”

Is this verging on booty call territory...

BettyCatLover · 26/02/2018 19:53

......there's only one way to find out Grin

Sallysollyfilly · 26/02/2018 20:04

Please let it not be!

OP posts:
MistressPage · 26/02/2018 20:12

YABU for using the phrase 'chatting shit'

BastardGoDarkly · 26/02/2018 20:23

Well, he either doesn't remember, or is into weird drunken conversations Grin

starlightafar · 26/02/2018 20:30

Just sounds as though he wants another drunk sex session tbh. Not sure this is going to be long term Grin he thinks you're a laugh so if you want more of same go for it.
Yes you were talking bollocks! Are you irish? FFS!

icelollycraving · 26/02/2018 20:33

Were any of them Irish?!
