Oh god. Hope it's fleas not bed bugs. You have to basically incinerate your house don't do that

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 23/02/2018 20:24

Been to the cinema recently? You can get them quite easily from the seats there.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 23/02/2018 20:26

Public transport. Do you put your bag on the seat?

frasier · 23/02/2018 20:26

Do you have pets? Anything new (to you) come into the house recently?

geekymommy · 23/02/2018 20:27

I'm pretty sure bedbugs come directly from hell.

Pob13 · 23/02/2018 20:27

I didnt consider the cinema; we go every week.
After extensive googling Im pretty sure its bed bugs not fleas, unfortunately.

No public transport, or pets.
I feel like Im in hell with this itchyness!

ThisLittleKitty · 23/02/2018 20:29

I got so paranoid in summer that I had bed bugs but luckily it was fleas! I googled about them and omg they are like something out of a horror film.

Pob13 · 23/02/2018 20:31

Im too scared to inspect the mattress!

OP posts:
frasier · 23/02/2018 20:32

Never had bed bugs but once had fleas in the hem of a brand new top! Was itching all day and when I got home I had little bites in a line around part of my waist. :(

Can you see bed bugs?

foxyloxy78 · 23/02/2018 20:34

Go on. Inspect the mattress. Only way you'll know for sure.

Tinseltower · 23/02/2018 20:34

Can you buy a new mattress and bedding?

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 23/02/2018 20:34

Oh I hope it’s fleas op! Bed bugs are supposed to be really difficult to get rid of. I’d call a pest control company ASAP.

Flomy · 23/02/2018 20:35

Oh no. Have you been to a hotel/friends house overnight?

SophieJo · 23/02/2018 20:35

You could stand on the bare mattress and Hoover it. I did when I thought the cat had fleas.

Pob13 · 23/02/2018 20:35

Can't I just move house?!

OP posts:
BrazzleDazzleDay · 23/02/2018 20:35

You've got to inspect the mattress to know for sure. Poor bugger

MakeTodayAmazing · 23/02/2018 20:37

Oh noooo! They're horrible little things Shock I stayed in a hotel once & was convinced they had bedbugs as I woke up with itchy bite marks. They didn't believe me so I spent the next evening collecting them with tweezers and putting them into a plastic cup to present to the manager. I then boiled all of my clothes. They're apparently impossible to get rid of so probably best to call some sort of professional pest control service to ask for advice as hopefully the sooner you deal with it, the less of an impact they'll cause.

Roomba · 23/02/2018 20:37

Oh god, I now never want to leave the house again!

Really hope it's anything other than bedbugs, OP. They can be very difficult to get rid of and can be dormant /hibernate for a long time IIRC (so if it is them it may not be that recent an infestation?)

roses2 · 23/02/2018 20:39

The council sprayed my house when I had bed bugs which cost £200. Not had a problem since, this was 5 years ago. It is fixable if you have the money.

Sar500 · 23/02/2018 20:39

Have you had visitors over or received any second hand clothes/ curtains recently? Sorry it must be horrible. I would definitely get a professional pest controller to deal with it if you can afford to.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 23/02/2018 20:52

Apparently they are commonly carried in/on bags and suitcases via hotels so have you been anywhere like a hotel with your bags or cases recently? Or any visitors that have been in a hotel?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/02/2018 20:58

If you have black dots on your bedding like felt pen spots; it’s bed bugs.

Bleach any white bedding and hot wash everything else. then burn your bed
You will have to check for them. Bleach does kill them in the short term but you need proper pest control to eradicate them.

sparklyshoes16 · 23/02/2018 20:59

Try Indorex flea spray...I lent this to a friend of mine when she came back from NYC and somehow ended up with bed bugs, it kept them at bay for a few days until she got a professional company in to get rid of once and for all...really do feel for you good luck Thanks

Partyfops · 23/02/2018 21:00

Check inside the folds around the edges of the mattress?

Could your neighbours have them, are you attached?
