TW: abuse. Boy laying eggs

It's in the DM. You probably don't want to look.

But 14 yr old Indonesian boy is "laying eggs"

Along with a blurred photo of one coming out of his bottom he's been named

AIBU to think this is akin to/actually showing an image of a child being abused and naming the victim?

Obviously he's being exploited or forced into putting them up his backside... and yet in true DM style there's a joke about if only he could lay bacon...

I know the DM is awful... but doesn't this cross over into sharing images of abuse and should be illegal?

I wish there was something that you could do to get the message through... its not like you can report it to the police is it? Ugh just makes me so sick. If it was in the U.K would they have printed it? I doubt it

Cant a complaint to some sort of ombudsman be made? It is imo circulating child porn. If someone on my fb posted this they would be reported to the police, so surely just because its a company they cant be held unaccountable?

Seems fairly clear that either father is exploiting child for monetary gain or does believe child but child is mentally unwell and it's a big cry for attention/help

I hope the government have got involved to safeguard the child?

The UK media shouldn't be sharing these images or naming the victim

I saw the headline in the DM, who said if only he could figure out how to make bacon... I thought it was a pretty tasteless remark even for the DM.

Yep, complain to IPSO about the DM.
The more people are complaining bout the rubbish they are printing, the less they will be able to get away with it.

It's all over the internet.... lots reporting it. I doubt complaining will do anything at all
Emails will probably be ignored or a standard reply sent out

IPSO seem quite limited in what they can and can't investigate. In particular it states on their website that they can't take complaints re:

"Concerns about taste and decency – these should be directed to the editor of the individual publication."

Stop Funding Hate has had some success regarding stopping companies advertising in the DM, basically hitting them in the pocket. Might be worth bringing this to their attention.

He isn’t even the first person to claim to be able to do this. There was a’ Indonesian man a while ago who said the same thing.

They weren’t picturing him in the act of laying the egg so why post a young boys?

I read the article and I was very surprised at the final sentence from the DM which basically turned the whole thing into a huge joke. Absolutely awful.

I complained to IPSO about DM's article on the couple who adopted a baby and one father murdered her. They mentioned their sexuality an unneccessary number of times, constantly referring to them as gay, same sex couple etc etc as if that had any bearing on the situation, I viewed it as thinly veiled homophobia/anti-gay adoption.

The response was I couldn't complain because the article was not about me or a relative of mine. So imo IPSO are shit.
