TW: abuse. Boy laying eggs

It's in the DM. You probably don't want to look.

But 14 yr old Indonesian boy is "laying eggs"

Along with a blurred photo of one coming out of his bottom he's been named

AIBU to think this is akin to/actually showing an image of a child being abused and naming the victim?

Obviously he's being exploited or forced into putting them up his backside... and yet in true DM style there's a joke about if only he could lay bacon...

I know the DM is awful... but doesn't this cross over into sharing images of abuse and should be illegal?

I think it's disgusting it's being treated as a big joke in tabloid newspapers... and even more shocking after looking on twitter how many people are finding it "funny" and not interpreting it as a 14 year old being exploited and abused

If it was a British child with a photo of their blurred bum and an object coming out of it... would they see it as so funny?!

This sort of shit is common in Indonesia, people believe in all kinds of crap. E.g., this story:

translate.google.com/translate?sl=id&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jitunews.com%2Fread%2F27377%2Fseekor-orang-utan-di-kbs-surabaya-hamil-diperkosa-penjaga&edit-text=

utter bollocks but people believe it.

As for the Daily Mail they will have just copied and pasted out of the Indonesian press.

AjasLipstick · 22/02/2018 10:36

HairyCoo we don't say "child porn" any more. It's not porn. It's abuse.

hairycoo · 22/02/2018 10:39

Sorry. I dont mean for a second that it is porn, it is obviously child abuse. www.ipso.co.uk/make-a-complaint/ is the link to complain.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 22/02/2018 10:41

Yanbu. Ffs.

istoleatoycar · 22/02/2018 10:41

It may well be common in Indonesia. It doesn't mean we should accept it in our media though and laugh because people there believe it. @pisacake or that the images and even I think the star has a video! Should be shared

Finally managed to submit the complaint...

iwishiwasasleep · 22/02/2018 15:59

How did you do it Istole. I can only go so far and it won't let me go any further.

istoleatoycar · 22/02/2018 19:09

If you ticked off more than one item you have to repeat yourself if that makes sense in every box...

I think I ticked several...

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 22/02/2018 19:19

Complaint made under "children" and "sexual abuse"

iwishiwasasleep · 22/02/2018 19:25

Thanks. I did click 2 boxes.

istoleatoycar · 22/02/2018 20:24

Thank you those who are also complaining. There are some truly awful comments over the media. I cannot fathom how people aren't recognising how sick it is and not funny at all

OP posts:
dottycat123 · 22/02/2018 20:45

Completed complaint from.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/02/2018 20:45

I've also commented on the article, most of it is haha sooooo funny lolz

istoleatoycar · 22/02/2018 22:03

It's disgusting @SleepingStandingUp I can't imagine it being treated that way if the child wasn't foreign. The journalists themselves obviously thought haha rather than thought about the child involved though Sad

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 22/02/2018 22:29

Yup, even if the kids was American, Australian - you know, one of those countries where the children matter

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/02/2018 22:30

utter disgrace. How on earth can they sanction publishing images and footage of what they in so many words say ( and obviously directly is) child sexual abuse. Am following suit to make a complaint, not sure what it will achieve in real terms but hopefully others will follow suit also.

istoleatoycar · 22/02/2018 23:11

Thank you. Maybe if we keep bumping the thread more will see and complain also.

I know most of MN are too sensible to click on the DM

NotASingleFuck Yes. I hate the way the papers are talking about the girls involved in the Oxfam scandal as prostitutes. They aren't prostitutes, they are rape victims.

backformoreanditsmyfault · 23/02/2018 00:03

OP, are you sure this is not fake news?

istoleatoycar · 23/02/2018 01:09

It's obviously fake as in he's not actually laying eggs

But there is a video and photos of a child producing them from his bottom in the media currently which is horrendous

Ffs. YANBU

istoleatoycar · 23/02/2018 15:44

This is what I got back Sad not sure how else I can do anything?

IPSO is able to consider complaints from an individual who has been personally and directly involved in the coverage, or journalistic activity, which gives rise to the alleged breach of the Editors’ Code of Practice; complaints from a representative group affected by an alleged breach where there is a substantial public interest; and complaints from third parties about accuracy. In the case of third party complaints, we will need to consider the position of the party most closely involved.

In this instance, the concerns you have raised under Clauses 2 (Privacy), 6 (Children), 7 (Children in sex cases) and 11 (Victims of sexual assault) relate to the parents/guardians of the boy concerned. Because of this, we are unable to consider your concerns further. AnoiaUnstickMyDrawers · 23/02/2018 17:08

Would the video or even the blurred photo, which quite frankly is still decipherable, be images of child abuse and therefore illegal to distribute?
If it was a pic of a child with an object in their bottom without this 'article' accompanying it on a private computer you would hope it would be something the police would investigate, surely?

BlurryFace · 23/02/2018 17:18

What? So if you see a picture/clip that shows abuse of a kid you can't complain unless you are related? That's insane, parents could be complicit (as in this case) or unaware of the site hosting it. Surely it's everyone's business if sites are profiting off this sort of thing?
