By Laura Branigan is a very underrated song?
It's not even my era I was two but I've had it in my head for day! Just hunted it down on YouTube 😁

Well I was going to agree with you but now I have it going round in my head so YABU. Grin

HarrietSchulenberg · 17/02/2018 17:29

Oh bugger, that is going to be my earworm for the weekend.

Onesmallstepforaman · 17/02/2018 17:29

Think it was originally released by Van Morrison, but I like both versions (and am prepared to be corrected).

Ilovechocolatebuttons · 17/02/2018 17:29

Self Control for me is one of my fav songs, she is a genius! Love her!

Funkyslippers · 17/02/2018 17:29

It always reminds me of Flashdance. Unless I'm mistaken it's in that film when one of the characters is iceskating. I like that song but haven't heard it in years

Sarahh2014 · 17/02/2018 17:31

I don't know anything else by her but that's a v good song

WeAreGerbil · 17/02/2018 17:38

The Van Morrison one was a completely different song

ScreamingValenta · 17/02/2018 17:39

Ooh, yes. Teenage memories for me, and agree with pp that Self Control is even better.

Sarahh2014 · 17/02/2018 17:39

So they're aren't two versions? X

OP posts:
tessieandoz · 17/02/2018 17:43

The original and best. But often covered at festivals

Sarahh2014 · 17/02/2018 17:44

Nah prefer the 80s one

Same here. She died too young, very sadly.

Onesmallstepforaman · 17/02/2018 17:46

Yup, that's Van front right in the Them pic. You can always tell by his happy demeanour 😊

CandyYumYum · 17/02/2018 17:47

I thought this was going to be a disapproving thread about 'That Gloria at no.27, men coming and going at all hours' or something.

I agree though that it's a belter of a tune. Jarvis Cocker and Pulp thought so too. So much so they ripped it off Grin

CandyYumYum · 17/02/2018 17:48

The Van song is also great. Less cheesy obv.

Sarahh2014 · 17/02/2018 17:48

CandyYumYum which song ripped it off?

OP posts:
myrtleWilson · 17/02/2018 17:51

I love Gloria may have imaginary performance of me knocking out the park

CandyYumYum · 17/02/2018 17:53

Disco 2000, Sarah.

Snakie · 17/02/2018 17:54

YANBU - fabulous song

AdidasGirl · 17/02/2018 17:55

Love this song.
It's on my 'Going Out Out' playlist when I'm getting ready.
Turn it up loud, sing down your hairbrush song.

Sarahh2014 · 17/02/2018 17:57

CandyYumYum do u reckon? I can't see the similarity

OP posts:
CandyYumYum · 17/02/2018 17:59

Well I'm sure Jarvis has said their song was 'inspired' by it.

goforkyourself · 17/02/2018 17:59

Have you watched White Gold op?

Sarahh2014 · 17/02/2018 18:04

goforkyourself yes!! It was the first time i heard it on there. I love that programme they've commissioned another series 😁
