The stuff at the end is interesting/moderately confusing - about how publishers’ strategies can boost songs like this and lead to them being used more in films/tv. Not sure I really get it, but it’s an eye-opener to learn that there’s an element of backroom industry stuff influencing the song choices producers make. Obvious once it’s pointed out, I guess, I just never really considered it.

Just put 'Self Control' on high volume (on headphones I hasten to add - I am a considerate neighbour) - brilliant, thanks to Sarahh2014 for reminding me how brilliant Laura Branigan is.

Just looked it up and was sad to read that Laura B died suddenly in 2004 of a brain haemorrhage. She was only 52.
