www.thesun.co.uk/news/5498978/aldi-have-recalled-38000-packs-of-frozen-veg-after-customer-found-half-a-rat-in-one/

(I feel sick just reading)

So they're giving them £500 compensation.

Blackteadrinker77 · 05/02/2018 12:17

Didn't they find a rat in their cheese biscuits a few months ago as well? Envy
(Not envy)

jaseyraex · 05/02/2018 12:18

What would be enough though? How do you put a price on finding a rat in your food? She's got significant compensation, they recalled the product. I feel that's good enough tbh.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/02/2018 12:20

I too feel its sheer greed to demand more money. I think £500 is more than enough.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 05/02/2018 12:20

I feel like a least 1k

If that is all that they have to pay out then it isn't enough.

If they are facing a fine on top, the that is different. £500 won't give them the will to up their working/ hygiene practices.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 05/02/2018 12:20

** at I mean

£500 is fine. No-one died.

JacquesHammer · 05/02/2018 12:26

Isn't compensation supposed to cover you for material loss?

I think £500 i generous; I'd rather the money be spent on improving their practices

Bluelady · 05/02/2018 12:26

£500 is generous.

Huskylover1 · 05/02/2018 12:29

Well presumably they didn't eat the rat or the veg....what about all the people who ate the veg that the rat had crawled over, before it reached it's final destination and died?

dentydown · 05/02/2018 12:32

500 pounds is plenty.
I just got refunded my money plus an extra couple quid on top when a ready meal casing for my Grandmother melted away into nothing in her oven!

SaucyJack · 05/02/2018 12:37

I'd happily eat frozen ratty veg for £500.

TheFairyCaravan · 05/02/2018 12:38

Hang on. She didn’t put the bag back in the freezer until she had finished feeding her grand daughter? Who does that? And they’d not even noticed half a rat in a bag of frozen veg until it was almost empty? Sounds a bit odd to me.

Anyhow £500 is plenty imo.

And this is why I never go to Aldi or Lidl etc.

At least in Waitrose it would have been a rare breed hamster with golden plated fur or something!!

RavenLG · 05/02/2018 12:42

If it was me I’d rather they invested the £500 into investigating what happened, to prevent it happening again. They’re recalling the product, to expect anything else is grabby.

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2018 12:44

£500 is more than enough. They are sorting it.

TieGrr · 05/02/2018 12:49

I'd need £500 to pay for the therapy after that.

Tringley · 05/02/2018 12:50

I suppose if they saw the rat and in shock fell out the window of a third floor apartment breaking every bone in their body £500 wouldn't be enough. Otherwise, happy days.

CarrotCakeMuffins · 05/02/2018 12:50

Don't underestimate the cost to Aldi of having to do a product recall, and the repercussions it will have for them. £500 is nothing compared to how much this will cost them in total.

Oysterbabe · 05/02/2018 12:51

£500 is fine when there's no actual injury.

SnippitySnappity · 05/02/2018 12:57

ooooh here is a story I was blissfully unaware of...may stick to bird's eye...

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 05/02/2018 12:59

Couldn’t give a crap what it costs Aldi to improve its standards- find a rat in my food you best pay up!!!
