Wellies, FFS!

To think I should be able to just, you know, buy a pair of fucking wellies! (Well actually I want neoprene lined ones IN A SIZE 6)

I've been trying to get a new pair since Christmas... they were no. 1 on my Christmas list but DH didn't get them because by the time he went to order they were sold out. I've tried all the local stockists, and finally tracked a pair down in the hunter sale, ordered them and they were due for delivery tomorrow.

Now I get an email saying they can't fulfill my order as they are now out of stock. FFS. I keep being told that all the 6s are now out of stock and they won't get any more as they are a seasonal product.

I know it's not the end of the world but why can't they just make/stock more size 6s as they know these ones will always sell out first! Anyway just wanted to rant before I go and get some cheap unlined ones to keep me going till the Autumn.

Have you tried a big garden centre?

AntoniaCaenis · 26/01/2018 12:49

Yes I have, and the local feed merchants. Lots of wellies. Not size 6!

Try Robinson’s equestrian , I’ve just checked and they’re showing size 6’s available in hunters .

ScribblyGum · 26/01/2018 12:50

Snort at wellies being a seasonal product.

ScribblyGum · 26/01/2018 12:52

I bought size 6 wellies for dd last week from GoOutdoors, not neoprene lined though.

AntoniaCaenis · 26/01/2018 12:52

It's the neoprene ones which are 'seasonal' but between gardening, horse stuff and forest school I seem to have spent the whole winter with frozen feet in my old, leaky wellies!

Wellies seasonal FFS - aside from the fact the climate in the UK makes that laughable wellies are needed all year round for gardening walking dogs other DIY jobs etc

EsmeMargaretNoteSpelling · 26/01/2018 12:55

Try the Muckboots Company on line. They aren’t cheap but are fantastic. They came recommended by a farmer friend and they keep your feet dry and warm. They stretch round the calf so always fit.

humansnowman · 26/01/2018 12:55

Shoezone have them in.

I got a fluffy lined pair the other day that my feet haven't yet frozen in

meredintofpandiculation · 26/01/2018 12:59

You can get neoprene socks. Then you'd be able to wear any old wellies.

britnay · 26/01/2018 12:59

Don't get Hunters, they are shit, they don't last long at all.
Muck Boots are very comfy (I wore them for walking, horse work and riding) and cosy even in the snow. However I tend to kill mine after around 6 months (I do work them quite hard!). I've got Grubbs at the moment and they are doing ok so far (3 months in), but not as comfy and supportive as Muck Boots, but they are a bit cheaper.

AntoniaCaenis · 26/01/2018 13:00

Thanks plominioagain I shall have a look

Have you checked Amazon? I got my Aigle neoprene wellies from there. If you're not too fussy on colour you can get them for about £90 but keep and eye on price as they do drop. I got mine last August for £70. They definitely have size 39 and 40 too.
I love my Aigle's and would never go back to normal wellies now.

toolonglurking · 26/01/2018 15:19

Don't get hunters!! They are dreadful, thin and very poorly made now they are manufactured in China.
Muckboots, le chameu or a pair of dubarrys would suit your needs I think.

BouleBaker · 26/01/2018 16:17

I have snow boots instead. Decathlon do ones that are waterproof up over the foot and ankle and are fleece lined.

AntoniaCaenis · 26/01/2018 16:20

Ouch they're expensive. I was originally looking at a pair costing 40. www.warmwellies.co.uk/adult-purple-neoprene-lined-field-warm-wellies/

I could go to 60 or even 70... hmm. Cheap wellies and thick socks me thinks.

If you're in a rural area, farm suppliers tend to keep a good stock of wellies year round.

Ours has a range from dirt cheap unnamed ones to Aigle and Le Chameau.

Thebookswereherfriends · 26/01/2018 16:51

I was in aldi today and they had neoprene wellies.

AntoniaCaenis · 26/01/2018 17:10

Thanks bookfirends I'm going to head over tonight!

Don't get hunters, look for some Muck Boots instead if you're looking for neoprene.

paniconthestreetsofdreams · 26/01/2018 17:18

What's neoprene? Hmm

JessieMcJessie · 26/01/2018 17:23

These Muck Boots are in the sale for £60 and in stock in a 6.

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 26/01/2018 17:42

these
are only low wellies but have a removable fleece liner that DD swears by.

TheSpottedZebra · 26/01/2018 17:49

Ald have neoprene wellies and socks in a fishing 'special'. They're men's sizes, so maybe too wide on the heel if you have thin feet. And they do free delivery on non food specialbuys
