Please help!

I had a surgical abortion. I've had to do a pregnancy test today to see if it was successful. I think there's a faint line. 2 lines indicates a possible failed abortion.
Can you see it? What do you think?

How long ago was the termination? I would have thought there would still be some hormones floating around for a bit anyway.

It can take a few days to test negative after a surgical abortion.

Yes there is a line, I would only worry if the abortion was 7 days or more ago. If so, I’d be asking for an urgent ultrasound and blood hCG level. Hope it all works out ok

Yes sorry I can see a line. I would test again just to incase that one was faulty. If it came up positive again, then I would be seeing a doctor asap

How could a surgical abortion not work? I'm curious. How could you still be pregnant? How distressing for you.

I would suggest seeing the GP for HCG levels. Positives can occur for up to a month, depending on how high the HCG level was pre termination.

Oh, I misread, you said surgical abortion OP. Did you mean medical abortion? (Pills)

I think it's leftover hormones - that line is very faint. But yes you should see GP asap to be certain.

OP try not to worry at the moment, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t successful. If it was medical did you pass the sac? You can have a little bit of tissue left over (this happened to me post one of my natural miscarriages) and that continued to produce hormone until i got my next period. With that period I passed several large clots at the end and after that period I tested nagatice.

I had a surgical termination and my tests were positive for 4 weeks after. I then got what I thought was my period and it was so heavy I was passing clots every few mins. Long story short I ended up in hospital for 3 days with retained products so please go and get checked out. (Don't want to worry you, I just wanted to let you know)

If you was still pregnant surely the line would be darker? But as it's faint I would take it as the hcg levels are lowering and just artn out of your system yet.

Deff phone the gp and try not to worry

Either this is residual hormones or it hasn’t been successful ( this happened to someone I know .) please call your provider ASAP xxx

I have to phone the clinic once it's open. Its not a normal test it's a low sensitivity one. It needs to pick up more than 1000mIU/mL for a positive result.
