Shit! Is this positive? URGENT

Please help!

I had a surgical abortion. I've had to do a pregnancy test today to see if it was successful. I think there's a faint line. 2 lines indicates a possible failed abortion.
Can you see it? What do you think?

Fingers crossed for you op Flowers

BurningStar · 24/01/2018 07:28

I'm hoping it is hormones. The termination went as planned (bleeding, cramps, clots) etc. My pregnancy symptoms have gone. All positive signs.

Do not panic! This is not uncommon with medical terminations as it takes a while for the levels to fall back to nothing. Ring the clinic and they will tell you what to do next (probably a blood test).

JustVent · 24/01/2018 07:32

It will indicate that there is retained product. It won’t indicate that you’re still pregnant with a baby.

They could give you medicines to try and expel it or they can go back in and get it.

Either way they will scan you most likely and see.

Tinkie25 · 24/01/2018 07:33

Try not to worry. 💐💐

Grilledaubergines · 24/01/2018 07:38

I'd say it's just that your hcg levels are still a bit high. I would expect the line to be darker by this stage.

TheMaddHugger · 24/01/2018 07:40

A (((Hugs))) if you want 💐💚💐

Thank you for your reassurances Flowers

I was told that you can still have a positive for up to three weeks following a termination. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

proudmum4 · 24/01/2018 07:48

Could it still be in your hormone ? Xx

Mrsemcgregor · 24/01/2018 07:51

How far into the pregnancy would you be? If you would be 8+ weeks I would expect a stronger positive. So fingers crossed it’s residual hormones Flowers

SummerRayne17 · 24/01/2018 07:52

Inexpect it is leftover hormones. I had a positive pregnancy test when my baby was 16 weeks old, i had been sterilised at same time as c-sec, so was freaking out. GP referred me to hospital and their blood tests showed negative. So donypanic, but do give GP a call to get checked. Good luck x

DayDreamer99 · 24/01/2018 07:53

I had a d&c after a miscarriage at 13 weeks, rest remained positive for about 4 weeks then my period returned 3 weeks after the negative test. I think an abortion is the same procedure as a d&c but not 100% on that.

BurningStar · 24/01/2018 07:53

I'd be over 9 weeks by now so that's reassuring! Thank you!

newnamechange84 · 24/01/2018 08:00

Don't panic! I had the same three weeks after my medical abortion. Scared me but I'm they just found the hcg in my blood was still high enough 60 - to register on a test. A week later all was fine.

Ellendegeneres · 24/01/2018 08:09

I had retained product but I tested negative- about 3months later I was rushed to theatre for an emergency erpc and had horrific infection. Please don’t let it get that far, get checked and make sure you’re safe!

YearOfYouRemember · 24/01/2018 08:13

I hope all goes well.

I miscarried and the test was negative but I was pregnant with an unknown about twin. Biology and science don't always gel.

thegreatbeyond · 24/01/2018 08:24

Hi, OP.

I had a miscarriage (confirmed by scans) and was still testing positive one month later. It was residual tissue, and I needed treatment for it, so talk to Dr.

Youngmystery · 24/01/2018 08:28

Try not to worry. I took a pregnancy test and it looked like that. Scared me but it was negative. Its probably just hormones but still check with a GP.

Sharpandshineyteeth · 24/01/2018 08:39

Another one with positive tests 2 weeks after a medical abortion, I had blood tests and scan and it was fine, no retained product, just stubborn hormones.

StoneColdDiva · 24/01/2018 08:49

It looks positive to me but I am really surprised they have asked you to do a pregnancy test because hormones will remain elevated after a miscarriage or abortion.

Missingstreetlife · 24/01/2018 08:52

Possible to have positive test if evacuation not complete (many reasons) or ectopic pregnancy (emergency scan needed). Hope not and all ok

calmandbright · 24/01/2018 09:35

I was still getting positives more than 3 weeks after I miscarried (different circumstances yes, but same thing in terms of hormones etc). Try not to worry. It's pretty faint so if I had to bet I'd say the pregnancy has ended.

Hey what was the result in the end in having the same problem was it okay in the end ?
