To ask if I can wash a king sized duvet in the bath?

DD (4) has been on a mission to fuck me off this week.

To cut a long story short she has drawn massively bushy eyebrows on my faux tapestry of a young man serenading his betrothed, she’s drawn eyebrows on my cushion that had a stag on it and she’s even drawn eyebrows on the fucking cat.

Needless to say she got a bollocking and didn’t take kindly to that either so what does she go and do? She pisses ALL OVER MY FUCKING DUVET. I’ve been quoted £30 at the laundrette but the bloody thing only cost me that two weeks ago Angry

Can I wash it in the tub? It’s only a synthetic one so no goose feathers etc.

Thanks in advance.

yes they are fab. i did it about 3 weeks ago

Doilooklikeatourist · 21/01/2018 22:10

I’ve got a big washing machine , bring it round 😀
I hang the duvet on the banisters then finish in the Tumbler

CraftyGin · 21/01/2018 22:12

Just take it to the laundrette.

You can get a big washer for maybe £4. You can pay the same for drying, or take it home and take your chances with rain.

Twickerhun · 21/01/2018 22:12

She tipexed the cat?!
It’s been years since I saw a pot of tipex. Retro. Sorry. Not helpful.

Placeboooooooo · 21/01/2018 22:13

circle not at all. She was positively angelic two weeks ago. I don’t know what’s gotten into her. I’ve put it down to tiredness but she’s been extremely lippy and whiney lately. I’ve been at my wits end with her if I’m honest.

I really need to go to bed but will wait patiently for the picture of the cat.

£10 tops to wash and dry a kingsize duvet in a laundrette in London.

PugwallsSummer · 21/01/2018 22:19

Has she been watching Show me Show me, by any chance??

Dancetothebeat32 · 21/01/2018 22:20

For what it's worth with all the faffing around I'd just get this from Argos.......DD sounds like she's super fun at the minute 😂😂

I've got an 8kg washing machine and 8kg tumble drier and have v successfully washed and dried a king size 9tog duvet with no probs at all (couple of tennis balls in with drier to fluff up).

I don't however have a car with tip ex eyebrows. I am jealous

Laiste · 21/01/2018 22:23

What have they been doing on Show me show me?! pissing on duvets?

SellMySoulForSomeSleep · 21/01/2018 22:23

Not helpful but Aldi special buys is bedding next week. I'm sure it was £15 for a king size.

SimonBridges · 21/01/2018 22:24

Is it wrong that I found most of that funny?

Also I know a 4 year old who did similar but more crafty. In the middle of the night he shat right outside his mums bedroom door so she trod in it first thing.
You have to admire his thinking.

Mimmi78 · 21/01/2018 22:25

ask if anyone has a 9kg!! Before I invested in a 9 kg (washer first then dryer!) I used to take mine and load and wash myself at laundrette, it's about a tenner. It is not properly dry though so you need a banister or airing cupboard to finish it off!!

Maverick66 · 21/01/2018 22:34

Sorry but I would buy a new cheap one.
Home Bargains, Poundstretcher etc.
After I had grounded DD for life!

turophile · 21/01/2018 22:37

eyebrows on the fucking cat sorry but Grin

Chocolate1984 · 21/01/2018 22:40

You can wash it in the bath easily but it weighs about 10 stone when you lift it out & drips all over your carpet. It probably won't fit in your tumble dryer, it will be too long/heavy for your washing line & you'll end up buying a new one from Dunelm for £23.

Knittedfairies · 21/01/2018 22:42

You have a very creative 4 year old..

BulletFox · 21/01/2018 22:44

Where is this tippexed cat, anyway?

acatcalledjohn · 21/01/2018 22:44

No help from me, but am now eagerly awaiting a picture of said cat with eyebrows...

As much as I feel sorry for the cat I'm Grin

I washed mine in the bath. Got in the bath and stomped the heck out of it, emptied the bath, rinsed a few times while stomping, then got as much water out as I could by stomping/ringing it out.

Put it over an airer standing up in the bath for half a day, then stuck it over two chairs in front of a big radiator and finished it in the tumble drier.

Passthecake30 · 21/01/2018 22:48

I used to wash mine in the bath, maybe every couple of years when it was 30c +

As pp said, it weighed about 10stone and putting it on the washing line was hard work for weakling me, but I guess you could hang it outside to drain off (wringing it is a nightmare) so long as you have somewhere to hang it for ages? But what would you use in the meantime?

Charleyyy · 21/01/2018 22:51

Hello sorry to drop in without advice but just another person desperate to see the cat 😂 sounds awful OP and you must be stressed but I'm chuckling away at the eyebrow obsession!

FloydOnThePull · 21/01/2018 22:56

I take ours to the launderette every once in a while, I tried doing a double in the bath once and lifting a water logged duvet out of a bath is a lot harder then you imagine, it's really heavy. Get yourself a good audio book and treat yourself to a few hours at the launderette watching your duvet go round in the drier, it's very relaxing and strangely hypnotic
