To put an egg in porridge?

I'm on weight watchers and eggs have no points and are very filling. Would it be weird to add an egg to a fruity porridge.
AIBWeird?
Does anyone do this?

I've heard of it, wouldn't it go weird though? Milky eggy scrambled mess?

MongerTruffle · 15/01/2018 21:21

YABU
Have it on the side instead.

Phosphorus · 15/01/2018 21:21

Couldn't you just cook the egg separately?

Tedster77 · 15/01/2018 21:22

Shock erm surely as porridge is hot you’d have lumps of scrambled egg in with your fruit and oats.

AgathaRaisonDetra · 15/01/2018 21:22

It would be weird.
No.

BabyLlama · 15/01/2018 21:22

Try it and see for yourself. Let me know how it goes Smile

wendywhite · 15/01/2018 21:22

Oh no !
People keep posting in my slimming world bowls of lentil soup with a hard boiled egg dumped in it & that’s bad enough !
Why not just eat the hard boiled egg on the side...

BamburyFuriou3 · 15/01/2018 21:23

Hmm I'm thinking it would make a sort of porridge pancake. Might be ok but definitely won't be porridge!

DiplomaticDecorum · 15/01/2018 21:23

Yabu

ALemonyPea · 15/01/2018 21:23

I do that with slimming world, but bake my oats, little bit lemon essence and a yoghurt added as well, delicious with a side of fruit.

Scribblegirl · 15/01/2018 21:23

I love soup with an egg in it but I wouldn't do one with porridge.

Bambamber · 15/01/2018 21:24

Eating an egg with a fruity porridge does seem a bit weird to me.

Do you want to add the egg because your genuinely still hungry after your fruity porridge, or just because you like egg and it has no points so want to add it? Could you not save the egg for a snack if your get hungry before lunch?

BamburyFuriou3 · 15/01/2018 21:24

I also think you need to try it and report back :)

MaidOfStars · 15/01/2018 21:24

Mix the oats into egg mix and make breakfast muffins?

MaidOfStars · 15/01/2018 21:25

Or just have eggs. Fabulous food.

ALemonyPea · 15/01/2018 21:25

Barf. Vom. Sorry OP, not very supportive of me, but it sounds gross. I like my porridge neat.

Ofthread · 15/01/2018 21:26

OMG gross, what the hell are you thinking? Have oatmeal pancakes instead.

KinkyAfro · 15/01/2018 21:31

Ew. Just have the egg hard boiled as a snack mid morning

calzone · 15/01/2018 21:32

Savoury porridge is a thing though with bacon and fried eggs

Whydididothatfuckingthing · 15/01/2018 21:32

I actually used to do this for my ds.
He was tube fed until he was 3. Then could only eat smooth/textured foods when weaning off the tube. I added eggs to porridge to basically get them in him as he couldn’t chew. It was fine and tasted good!

loveyouradvice · 15/01/2018 21:34

Hiya.... Ive done this lots... so long as the porridge isn't too hot, the egg makes it creamy/custardy and is DELICIOUS... too hot, yup you get scrambled eggs.... which I wouldnt recommend!

Basecamp21 · 15/01/2018 21:34

Give it a go - what's the worst that can happen - you waste a bit of porridge and an egg!!!

caddywally · 15/01/2018 21:36

I've added egg whites to porridge for a bit of extra protein! It doesn't really change the taste or texture as long as you add it in very small amounts and stir vigorously between additions. I think it's nice but you might not agree. Worth giving it a try!
