and why?

OP posts:
Deshasafraisy · 13/01/2018 22:57

Me, all the drivel

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2018 22:57

I'm not. I'm not on it. Grin

What has Facebook done this time?

Sokuto · 13/01/2018 22:58

Me. It's boring and pointless. I'm not interested in other people's kids or what they had for dinner. Im certainly not interested in how many reps they've done at the gym.

I don't know why I still have it to be honest! Morbid curiosity?

LEMtheoriginal · 13/01/2018 22:59

Me - I hate it but I keep it because, well I don't know really. It feeds my anxiety

chipsandpeas · 13/01/2018 23:03

facebook is what you make it, if people are pissing you off unfriend them or unfollow them

Clitoria · 13/01/2018 23:03

Deoends how you use it, if you choose to have a load of MLM bots, relatives and thickos from your youth on it with misspelled drivel and minion quotes-yeah I see why that wouldn’t be pleasant.

I used it for a meeting of minds with likeminded childfree women from all over the world and see thought provoking, or funny posts and solidarity. The only bumbling idiots I’m friends with on it are colleagues, who are on restricted and unfollowed.

hollowtree · 13/01/2018 23:04

Haven't had it for years. Ignorance is bliss!

etap · 13/01/2018 23:09

YABU.

Those you connect with on Facebook are those you've willingly connected with.

Littlelambpeep · 13/01/2018 23:11

I use it mainly for sites like zoflora addicts and positive thinking and other blogs I follow. Rarely look at peoples profiles now.

phoenix1973 · 13/01/2018 23:11

The targeted ads.

RhodaBorrocks · 13/01/2018 23:11

I hate the fakery, the #blessed, the luxury lifestyle on credit cards and the constant need for likes.

If it wasn't for the fact that my hobby group uses FB to organise everything I'd probably come off it.

SilverySurfer · 13/01/2018 23:15

Never had it, never will.

MissSpock · 13/01/2018 23:20

My mother stalks her enemies on Facebook and it's just negativity and jealousy and enviousness all day long.

OP posts:
TenancyTroublesAgain · 13/01/2018 23:22

I'm not sick of it but I don't really care about it, I just absent mindedly scroll through my feed. I AM sick of Twitter lately, everything is about fucking Trump.

mumpoints · 13/01/2018 23:25

It's had its time. Like Ceefax, Walkmans and floppy discs.

Instagram will hang around for a bit longer until the "scandal" of the bought likes makes the front of the Daily Mail and then it will start to lose its shine with those sucked in and those still using it will be accused of buying likes so will slowly stop...

Twitter will stay with the hardened Twitterati but be forgotten by most.

It's time for a new social network with a new gimmick.

These are my predictions!

mumpoints · 13/01/2018 23:26

MissSpock Tell us more. What enemies? And ehat does she do when she's found them?

bingbongnoise · 13/01/2018 23:27

Deactivate your account then FFS! Hmm

Some people do actually enjoy it you know. If you don't then get rid of it. It's not fucking rocket science! Hmm

InspMorse · 13/01/2018 23:28

It depends who your 'friends' are and what their interests are.

I have no work colleagues, no acquaintances on FB.

I only have current friends or very good old friends from school/university - It's a good way of keeping in touch with them & we still have lots in common even though we see each other once in a blue moon.

Targeted ads are a PITA.

Cyrilla · 13/01/2018 23:30

I keep it for group stuff only - hobbies, clubs, school etc. All the other daily statuses & showing off and waiting for the likes to come in is shite.

MissSpock · 13/01/2018 23:30

Tell us more. What enemies? And ehat does she do when she's found them?

Ok maybe enemies is a harsh word...maybe rivals? She lives in a small town where people know one another and it's a shallow town wherein people talk about one another's lives and wealth and compare themselves with each other.

She constantly waits for Facebook updates then disses each picture or each post. It's very immature.

I find myself posting on it less and less and I also seem to see less of what people post. The algorithm is fucked. I miss all kinds of things people post and then hope they’re not put out that I haven’t “liked” what they’ve posted later. I also see lots of annoying ads repetitively. They try and second guess what “content” I want to see. It’s just really irritating and I hate the fact the net is forcing us into silos and what we are missing out on elsewhere. It’s the same all over the net these days though and very annoying. I had to stop my partner ticking particular likes on Apple Music and told him to like everything. Otherwise you only get “offered” certain genres or types and will be prevented from seeing others easily. If you’re a wide ranging music lover this is awful. I hate that this is what the net is becoming . Don’t even get me started on the “convenience” of Alexa. Using the web these days is all just a selling excercise and directional marketing tool by big US corporates.

mumpoints · 13/01/2018 23:36

MissSpock Ah, there's someone in my office like that!

wibblywobblyfish · 13/01/2018 23:39

I'm a bit bored of following friends on there. Really couldn't give two shiny shits about what my neighbour had for tea. I like groups relating to my hobbies and interests though.

mumpoints · 13/01/2018 23:40

juliesaway I agree, the algorithm is rubbish. We have a local site for our town. I read the top few posts and see someone is willing to pick up Christmas trees for mulching, I ask DH later if I should contact them about our old TV. He says yes. Can I find that ad again? Never in a million years no matter how I search or sort. And it isn't deleted posts, it happens all the time.

mumpoints · 13/01/2018 23:41

^TV = tree lol! I have no idea how that happened!
