I bought one of those spring epilators before xmas and today plucked up the courage to do above my top lip.

Jesus wept. I'd rather go through labour without gas and air.

Will the circus accept a middle aged woman with black facial hair?!

I treated myself to a nosehair trimmer in the sales. I know right... my life is wild. Made me sneeze approximately nineteen kajillion times in a row. If they're looking for a sneezy person as well, do let me know!

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 11/01/2018 13:58

Do threading instead

IrkThePurist · 11/01/2018 14:02

I bought one of those spring things and it got stuck on my face. I was too chicken to pull it off so ended up bending it and trying to release each hair one by one.
Fuck that. Waxing is less painful.

sirlee66 · 11/01/2018 14:27

Get the veet precision trimmer! It will change your life.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 11/01/2018 14:29

Why don't people just use Nair? Or veet? Confused I have my fair share of hair Grin

I just use cream.

Why cause yourself pain?

Reflexella · 11/01/2018 14:29

If I got run over today, they’d drop me off at super vet

SistersOfPercy · 11/01/2018 14:33

I was given one to review just before Christmas. Good christ never again. I offered to do DH's eyebrows with it (the bits where it meets in the middle) purely for the amusement of seeing him jump.

Bloody freak enjoyed it

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 11/01/2018 14:33

Reflexa That's nothing. I'm so hairy that when I walk past Vegans, they shout anti-fur slogans at me.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 11/01/2018 14:34

I simply don't bother any more.

I'm cultivating quite a lady tache and I'm rather fond of it.
I call him Eric.

Go au naturel.

What irks me are all the different colours.

Natural ginger. Eyebrows and eyelashes are white. They're dyed brown and black respectively.

Nose hairs are getting longer and have changed from white blonde to a dark sand, making them really obvious.

Moustache hair is quite fine, but an obvious brown colour.

Beard is a multicoloured, salt and pepper mix of tough, brown, ginger, red, grey, white and blonde wires which need shaving once a day.

It's also curly, so I can't 'train' it to form a goatee.

Coat of many colours, me! Blush

*If I got run over today, they’d drop me off at super vet

That's the best thing I've ever read

girlingerrupting · 11/01/2018 14:52

Laser is the answer surely

FooFighter99 · 11/01/2018 14:58

I Nair'd my beard/tash the other day, but it wasn't actually the face Nair..... though it did claim to be 'sensitive' haha yeah right

FUCK ME!!! Did that motherfucker burn my top lip completely off!!!

The facial Nair is good though, gets rid of my fuzzy beard/tash no problem but nothing can tame the big black hairs that sprout randomly on my chin Sad they have to get tweezered once a day cos they grow like fucking wildfire

Wish I could afford laser treatment Blush

Sparkler09 · 11/01/2018 15:02

Even the face Nairs burn the shit out of my skin! Im talking proper bad!

I've used the Veet facial wax strips and they are much better. Get the job done!

19lottie82 · 11/01/2018 15:05

Get it lasered off. Expensive, but worth it. (From the ex bearded lady!)

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 11/01/2018 15:07

I tried my epilator on my tache- cos it said you could.

Never again.

I too have a great big black witches hair which I can sense is imminent before it starts to unfurl its spidery length from my chin. Bastard!

Mountainpika · 11/01/2018 15:20

Wimps!

An epilator is a bit of a surprise when you first use it, but persist and you get used to it. Do it before the hairs get too long. (Might be because the hairs are long that it initially feels painful.) Hardly feel it now. No problem.

Aria2015 · 11/01/2018 15:25

Keep at it! I use mine to epilator my top lip and the first tine is the worst and then it’s really not so bad. I do mine every few days and honestly don’t even bat an eye now. It’s great because it gets hairs when they are short, unlike waxing when you need to wait.

RavenLG · 11/01/2018 15:58

Why don't people just use Nair? Or veet? confused

Too many nasty chemicals for me I'm afraid.

I usually pluck and pluck, but learning that you ladies use your epilators I might give my top lip a whirl over the weekend!

Gingernaut · 11/01/2018 16:05

My hair isn't a suitable colour for laser or IPL.

The thioglycolate compounds in Nair and Veet burn my skin and leave the hairs behind

Waxing is hit and miss - my skin reacts to heat/trauma/chemicals in cold waxes and takes days, if not hours to calm down leaving me looking like I've paid to be punched in the face in the meantime

The hairs are too plentiful to just pluck.

Threading can cause my skin to redden and swell, taking hours to calm down.

Shaving the beard and moustache is a less painful alternative and I get my eyebrows threaded every couple of weeks.

OneForTheRoadThen · 11/01/2018 16:16

Threading is worse than childbirth for me. I wax face bits now - at least the pain is over quickly.

sunflowersandroses · 11/01/2018 16:45

I use boots own brand sensitive facial hair removal cream. very good, and doesn't burn.

Gingernaut · 11/01/2018 20:11

Yeah, thioglycolate still there though.

I've posted about these evil sticks before....even just thinking about them makes me feel sick. The pain was unbelievable Angry
