Why am I bleeding?

Can anyone help? I finished my period on New Year’s Day and today I had a bit of bright pink bleeding. I woke up with lower back pain which I can’t account for.
Is it possible I’m pregnant? My husband had a vasectomy which I know isn’t always fullproof so I’m freaking out!

From what I've read it can potentially be a pregnancy sign. Spotting isn't usually pink is it?

lunalove · 10/01/2018 10:15

Isn’t it too early though in the cycle??

AuntLydia · 10/01/2018 10:16

Ovulating early maybe?

lunalove · 10/01/2018 10:19

I’ve never had bleeding between periods. Only when I was pregnant.

Is it worth calling my doctor? Or just try and forget about it. I’m feeling really anxious as my last pregnancy was very dangerous.

Think yourself lucky I just had an 8 week long period with no explanation! And definitely not pregnant (and not on contraception either tht makes you bleed)

nornironlady · 10/01/2018 10:34

I've had break through bleeding numerous over the years and had it checked out - all was fine and I was told this is normal though clearly not for everyone. For your own peace of mind, get checked out in case it's a sign of something else. Good luck OP.

Mousewatch · 10/01/2018 10:34

The only time I've ever bleed in between periods is when I was having a MC. Get yourself checked op.

Allfednonedead · 10/01/2018 10:36

I get that every month as I have a slight ectropion (cervical erosion). Id take a HPT just in case, but see a dr for reassurance it’s nothing more serious.

JustVent · 10/01/2018 10:39

Bleeding between periods is not a good thing.

From experience it can signify fibroids or uttering polyps. And other stuff.

With a vasectomy is extremely unlikely to be pregnancy and absolutely needs checking out.

Are you up to date with your smear?

JustVent · 10/01/2018 10:40

*uterine

Rebeccaslicker · 10/01/2018 10:42

Have you recently lost weight or been working out at the gym (new year resolutions!)? Both those things make me spot between cycles. Vigorous sex could do it too.

There are lots of benign reasons for it - but if it's unusual for YOU, as you say it is, please see your dr just to check it out.

Member984815 · 10/01/2018 12:48

Make an appointment to put your mind at ease , it's probably nothing but it's a symptom of lots of things and you will drive yourself crazy worrying about it

Bambamber · 10/01/2018 12:58

Could possibly be implantation bleeding, or your hormones could just be having a funny month. When did he have the vasectomy? Had he had sperm analysis since to check it was successful?

lunalove · 10/01/2018 13:00

I have an appointment on Friday to take swabs. He had the vasectomy years ago I can’t remember if he had an analysis after though.

My back pain is getting worse. It really hurts now. And I’m freaking out because i heard lower back pain and bleeding between periods is a sign of cervical Cancer.

OP posts:
MrTrebus · 10/01/2018 13:21

Try and get seen sooner than Friday OP ideally today if the lower back pain is bad

LaurieMarlow · 10/01/2018 13:24

I occasionally have some spotting when ovulating. Looks like your dates would add up for that.

FrameyMcFrame · 10/01/2018 13:29

Try not to worry, it's unlikely to be anything serious. Take some ibuprofen and call the Doctor back for a more urgent appointment.

stickytoffeevodka · 10/01/2018 13:30

I got this for a few months earlier this year - like you I completely freaked out but it turned out to be hormonal. Please don't panic until you've seen your GP and had tests.

When was your last smear test?

ladystarkers · 10/01/2018 13:30

Defintley see a gp. Its probably notjing but I believe can be a sign of cervical cancer.

lunalove · 10/01/2018 13:39

I’ve never had one. I have terrible anxiety and avoid the doctor if at all possible. I was intending to get my first one in the next couple of months

OP posts:
stickytoffeevodka · 10/01/2018 13:44

When you go, ask for a smear test. Your normal GP will be able to do one - I requested one when I had abnormal bleeding and she was perfectly happy to do so then and there.

Of course, it COULD be cervical cancer but there are loads of other reasons too - polyps, fibroids, ovulation bleeding, hormonal imbalances or even an infection of some sort. Please don't get yourself in a panic thinking it's cancer just yet Flowers

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/01/2018 13:45

I had this a few years ago and was quite alarmed by it. GP thought it was a cervical erosion but it turned out to be hormonal and the start of the peri menopause. Could it be that?

EverythingIsAwwwwsome · 10/01/2018 13:56

I was thinking menopause symptoms too. A few months ago I had 2 periods within 3 weeks. I put it down to that.
Have a chat with the Dr on Friday about having that smear done tho. Nothing at all to stress about I promise. Just look at the celing and plan what you're cooking for tea/watching on telly and then it's all done.
