A designated pooping toilet in your house?

Background: we have a downstairs loo, an ensuite and a family bathroom. Our downstairs loo is the "designated" toilet. I dont want the smell of DH arse which could gag a maggot wafting in whilst im in bed. Nor when having a bath or bathing DS. I find it rank when we have an alternative.DMIL was visiting today and DH said to DFIL "Downstairs one please dad" when he got up and started to shuffle towards the stairs after dinner. It appears i am utterly unreasonable for requesting DH and Ds Use downstairs to poop. (Mainly because its quicker to vent and clean). I however fart rainbows so dont have this problem Wink. Downstairs loo is off the hallway so no concerns of "overhearing" whilst your in the living room. Am i a massive weirdo? Do other households have designated pooping toilets so i can delight in telling MIL?

( lighthearted btw...)

No

Boulshired · 03/01/2018 21:41

The main family toilet upstairs, definitely not the en suite. But I would never tell a guest they are welcome to poop in any toilet.

FlyingElbows · 03/01/2018 21:41

No and I think it's outrageously rude to designate a toilet for your guests if it makes them uncomfortable. I hate downstairs toilets in anything other than large houses and ripped ours out and replaced it with a laundry.

pictish · 03/01/2018 21:41

No we don't. I think telling guests what toilet they may poo in is bizarre.

User5trillion · 03/01/2018 21:42

Yes we do but I dont tell visitors they have to use it for taking a dump. Dh knows the rules however!

SciFiFan2015 · 03/01/2018 21:43

Yes. We have a designated pooping loo.

The ONLY one in the house!

itsbetterthanabox · 03/01/2018 21:43

We only have one bathroom

pictish · 03/01/2018 21:43

I'd be mortified if I visited someone and had it highlighted to me that I was heading for the wrong toilet. Omg.

ClaudiaD13 · 03/01/2018 21:44

My downstairs toilet is the 'guest' toilet. I don't let the children use that at all! I like to know I have a toilet that's always clean for guests without worry.

I do kindly request my husband poop in the main bathroom rather than the ensuite. So I guess yes, we do have a designated loo. Grin

IHaveACuntingPlan · 03/01/2018 21:44

So long as they flush, wash their hands and
they don't leave a mess behind them I'm not bothered what they do in either loo in my house. I wouldn't dream of asking them whether they're going for a wee or a poo and I'd hate to be asked if I was at someone else's house!

peppapigwouldmakelovelyrashers · 03/01/2018 21:45

Its not at all lighthearted if you actually tell guests where they are allowed to shit.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/01/2018 21:45

Nope, only one loo in the house.

FunSizedNinja · 03/01/2018 21:45

It was DH who said it not me! I wouldnt and never have told a guest which loo to use ( although would be a bit Hmm if they went in my ensuite as its via bedroom) its DH backside i have problems with! In the privacy of own home though... we find the designated one works well...

We used to have a no poop rule in the en suite, totally agree with you about that. Maybe a step too far telling visitors where to poo (although if you're that kond of family, go for it, we are). I don't think you're particularly unreasonable.

KiteMarked · 03/01/2018 21:46

Yes, but.only because one toilet flushes better than the other. I hate the low flow toilet SO.MUCH.

blibblibs · 03/01/2018 21:47

DH knows to poop in the toilet furthest away from wherever I am in the house Grin

Trills · 03/01/2018 21:47

All toilets are for pooping.

They are TOILETS.

Any non-pooping toilet would be considered a non-functional toilet and in need of attention from a plumber.

Unicorn81 · 03/01/2018 21:48

Im jealous, i want 2 loos so i can have a designated one 😂

Sparrowlegs248 · 03/01/2018 21:50

I have one bathroom with one toilet in it. That's the pooping toilet. And the weeing toilet. And the puking toilet

theymademejoin · 03/01/2018 21:50

I think it is rude of a visitor (unless they are staying over) to use an upstairs toilet is there is one downstairs.

Downstairs mainly in our house. Ensuite tends to block.

madeyemoodysmum · 03/01/2018 21:51

Dh tends to poo in the downstairs loo. I prefer upstairs But I see the logic in your system.

madeyemoodysmum · 03/01/2018 21:52

Wouldn't do it to a guest however

dudsville · 03/01/2018 21:52

May I use your loo?

Sure! What is the nature of your business please?

Um. Well. I'm on my period and need to change my tampon. I may also need a bowel movement - hard to tell at this stage. But then I will also need some freshening up.

Ok! So that's loo 1 for the wee, loo 2 for the tampon (that's the loo with the guest bin) and poo, and loo 3 has the shower hose attachment.

Liz38 · 03/01/2018 21:53

Only one toilet here. Currently debating extending to build another but not sure the cost is worth it, although it would let me join in these discussions. I'm sure I read on another thread about someone not wanting to visit where there isn't a designated guest toilet... she could come see me then!

MysweetAudrina · 03/01/2018 21:53

3 toilets and people can do whatever they like in any of them. I wouldn't dream of telling another human where they could or couldn't shit.
