A designated pooping toilet in your house?

Background: we have a downstairs loo, an ensuite and a family bathroom. Our downstairs loo is the "designated" toilet. I dont want the smell of DH arse which could gag a maggot wafting in whilst im in bed. Nor when having a bath or bathing DS. I find it rank when we have an alternative.DMIL was visiting today and DH said to DFIL "Downstairs one please dad" when he got up and started to shuffle towards the stairs after dinner. It appears i am utterly unreasonable for requesting DH and Ds Use downstairs to poop. (Mainly because its quicker to vent and clean). I however fart rainbows so dont have this problem Wink. Downstairs loo is off the hallway so no concerns of "overhearing" whilst your in the living room. Am i a massive weirdo? Do other households have designated pooping toilets so i can delight in telling MIL?

( lighthearted btw...)

YABU and quite wierd. Bit controlling too. You cannot have that many guests?! A loo is a loo. Confused

We have an ensuite and a family bathroom. DH and I use the en suite for all purposes. DCsand visitors use the family bathroom for all purposes (there is a pedal bin and san pro disposal bags in there too).

Both loos have deodorising sprays for us if needed as well as windows which can be opened.

deadringer · 03/01/2018 22:01

Our downstairs bathroom is our designated loo for pooping but there is a practical reason for it. The upstairs loo is old and takes ages to fill after flushing, also it has a rubbish flush that doesn't take everything away. I would never tell guests were to poop though.

DragonMamma · 03/01/2018 22:07

We have a designated pooing toilet for DH - the main bathroom, which the DC mainly use. Mainly because it’s larger and the wind seems to blow in quite nicely.

He’s under strict instructions to never ever poo in the downstairs loo because it’s off the hallway, but opposite the kitchen and nobody every needs to smell that.

Ditto with the ensuite, but the flush isn’t that powerful so I doubt he would try anyway.

Gemini69 · 03/01/2018 22:13

Yes.. DH know's to go to the upstairs bathroom... or else Hmm

Fluffyears · 03/01/2018 22:14

Our downstairs loo is next to the kitchen! No poo in the downstairs loo!!!

JaneEyre70 · 03/01/2018 22:15

DH does his business at the same time in the downstairs toilet. Every day. You can set your watch by him. And he NEVER opens the window or cleans the pan. It's a miracle we are still married. He's banned from our DDs bathroom incidentally.

It's a bloody nightmare if we have visitors, he happily does the same during the day or pees all over the seat and leaves it. Then swears blind it wasn't him Hmm. I'm on permanent toilet watch when we have guests. We need an outside loo!

DiplomaticDecorum · 03/01/2018 22:16

Yes. For dh. It's about 100 yards from the house and sometimes I worry that it's too close. We pretty much eat the same, so what exact happens in his guts? Envy (not envy)

FunSizedNinja · 03/01/2018 22:20

@DiplomaticDecorum Ditto! I swear something has died in there sometimes!

Also just to reiterate again to pp who havent read my previous post: I NEVER tell guests which loo to use! It was Dh who made the comment... maybe thats where he gets it from...

LMFAO

Glumglowworm · 03/01/2018 22:35

Well yes but only because it’s my only toilet

My best friend, who I often stay with, has three, a downstairs one, family bathroom and an en suite. I’ve used all three for pee but will only poo in the family bathroom as it’s more private. They don’t have a designated pooing loo though unless someone has a stomach bug, then they have a loo to themselves for the duration.

Loyaultemelie · 03/01/2018 22:53

Downstairs loo here but that's because the upstairs one has crap plumbing and takes a lot of flushing for anything more than a pee

glueandstick · 03/01/2018 22:59

Downstairs loo is out of bounds unless you’re looking after sproglet and they are downstairs. Other wise it’s his and hers upstairs. Visitors may use the downstairs 😂

Madwoman5 · 03/01/2018 23:10

I would not dream of going upstairs in someone else's house if there was a downstairs loo, even at my Mum's house and I do not like people using the bathroom at ours when there is a downstairs loo. The family use both.

MrsBonato · 03/01/2018 23:13

Downstairs for poo, upstairs blocks every time. DH isn't even allowed in ensuite, I don't trust him.

DramaAlpaca · 03/01/2018 23:14

Of course not. I find the idea of restricting toilets to certain people or bodily functions extremely peculiar.

brizzledrizzle · 03/01/2018 23:15

We only use the upstairs one because the downstairs one is icy cold so yes, I guess we do.

KenDoddsDadsDogIsDead · 03/01/2018 23:25

We have one at work. No pooping allowed in the ladies as it is also used by customers.
I ignore the rules though.

wineusuallyhelps · 03/01/2018 23:31

Not usually...but if we are all trying to get ready for work/school and need to use the main bathroom, then the kids are told to do their business in the downstairs loo.

No one wants to brush their teeth in the stench of someone else when they don't have to! Go downstairs in peace and everybody wins Grin

LemonDrizzleBun · 03/01/2018 23:40

Three all purpose toilets here. I find that if I have guests staying over they will go use the upstairs one even during the day as it's more private.

UterusUterusGhali · 03/01/2018 23:44

I don't like the DC using the downstairs one because ye gads the stench lingers downstairs. I haven't said so tho.

I won't use downstairs because it's cold and full of shoes.

UterusUterusGhali · 03/01/2018 23:46

lemon yeah my guests go upstairs too with the newspaper.
It's a very small house and unusual that it has 2 loos but is tiny.

I love my 2 loos I have Crohn's and during a flare nobody can get in the upstairs. Blush
