Is this greedy of me

Mackerel fillets from Aldi. 3 in a pack, I'm the only that eats them so having all in one go with med veg. One seems to small, two would leave one in a packet. Sister thinks I'm being a fatty.

I have a life long colourful and Complicated history with food, one extreme to another so always wonder how "normal" my eating habits are compared to everyone

Sounds perfectly fine and healthy to me. Enjoy!

Mulch · 30/12/2017 18:27

Rest of day to give abit more context

Breakfast just coffee and water.
Brunch leftover Chicken and Carrots.
Snacked on a banana and rice cake. Drank a huge calorific mocha. The mackerel is evening meal, probably have abit of dark chocolate later. Walked 5miles with pram today and pottering around

If it was 3 family sized Swiss roles, that would be greedy - 3 wee fish filets is fine Grin
Especially if they're smoked and peppered, they wouldn't last 30 seconds in my house!

You're right ,you can't leave one in a pack, eat them and enjoy.nobody should comment on what you do and don't eat

JollyGiraffe · 30/12/2017 18:29

That's not much food in a day at all.

Where's the carbs?!

JollyGiraffe · 30/12/2017 18:29

But I agree with you that 3 mackerel fillets is fine.

SantanicoPandemonium · 30/12/2017 18:29

Given your update, you should probably have some new potatos or rice with them so
you're getting h enough carbs.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 30/12/2017 18:29

It’s mackerel, not Mars Bars! Perfectly fine

WhataLovelyPear · 30/12/2017 18:30

Sounds quite restrained to me. But then, I can never seem to lose weight for long so maybe we're both a bit greedy. Is your sister stick thin?

MrsPringles · 30/12/2017 18:30

EAT ALL THE MACKEREL!

Grin
userabcname · 30/12/2017 18:30

I have a dear friend whose motto in life is "3 is a portion". You're fine!

Sparklesocks · 30/12/2017 18:31

OP you don’t have to justify your eating habits to us, just enjoy!

Wheelywheel · 30/12/2017 18:32

I start to get a bit mackereled out after the 2nd one. Why not add some pasta/potato and save the last mackerel for a small lunch tomorrow?

bonzo77 · 30/12/2017 18:32

I couldn’t manage 3 in one sitting: I find them too greasy/ sickly. And I like to leave space for plenty of white carbs! If a packet of 3 I’d probably eat one, save one and make the third into pâté with cream cheese, lemon juice and horseradish.

PurpleDaisies · 30/12/2017 18:33

That doesn’t sound like a lot of food in a day at all. Are you dieting?

This is a bad time of year for people struggling with past eating issues.

Ridingthegravytrain · 30/12/2017 18:34

Depends if you are dieting or not. If you mean it’s those shrink wrapped smoked mackerel fillets they are pretty calorific (I’m assuming you mean these as they come in packs of 3)

I usually have the two smaller then make pate from the 3rd

But I wouldn’t call you a fatty for doing it!

PinkHeart5914 · 30/12/2017 18:38

A bit of fish and veg is hardly greedy.

dancinfeet · 30/12/2017 18:38

I eat a whole pack of these for breakfast in one go, with a slice of toast or 2 (not every day, mind!). About once a fortnight, but my kids hate fish and it stinks out the fridge so once it's open, it all goes under the grill

Mulch · 30/12/2017 18:43

Yea it's the shrink wrapped ones. Plate was a absolutely huge plate of veg. I'm an emotional over eater and have been known to go through two large dominos pizzas with sides before after a whole day of eating. Then I've been at the other end, not quite an eating disorder but very controlled low calorie eating with alot of exercise. Now I'm trying to figure out how to just eat like a normal person with a healthy weight, but it makes me neurotic even without comments from people.

Mrsmadevans · 30/12/2017 18:45

Not at all greedy my dear Bon Appetit!

turbohamster · 30/12/2017 18:54

I think 100g (half a pack i think) is the recommended serving size

Emmageddon · 30/12/2017 18:57

Eat and enjoy. Sod the naysayers.

My eating is totally disordered a lot of the time. The trick is not to pay any attention to those disparaging your food choices.

userofthiswebsite · 30/12/2017 18:59

No it's quite healthy as there's no carbs in there and fish is low cal.

Fish and broccoli is my go to trying-to-lose-weight dinner.
