Is this greedy of me

Mackerel fillets from Aldi. 3 in a pack, I'm the only that eats them so having all in one go with med veg. One seems to small, two would leave one in a packet. Sister thinks I'm being a fatty.

I have a life long colourful and Complicated history with food, one extreme to another so always wonder how "normal" my eating habits are compared to everyone

If half a pack is a serving why on earth do they put 3 fillets in a pack?!

user, why is it healthy because there are no carbs? I don’t get this ‘all carbs are evil’ line of thought, everything in moderation.

Ravenesque · 30/12/2017 19:04

That's almost the opposite of greedy, but not because the opposite would probably mean starving yourself or something. Mackerel is really healthy and three fillets is hardly stuffing yourself. Your sister is being a bit of a dick. You are not greedy.

However, I am annoyed with you because I have no mackerel in the house and now I want mackerel! Smile

^ This!

It's one of these things that annoys me out of all proportion to what it is. And in my experience, "recommended portions" are usually ridiculously small, purely so that the manufacturers can claim that one portion = teeny-tiny number of calories (one of my particular bonnet-bees is four-inch pies that are expected to serve two people)

dynevoran · 30/12/2017 19:15

That's 750calories and 60 grams of fat according to the pack I have in my fridge. It's a great food to eat and wonderful meal with a plate of veg, and calories wise added to the rest of your day isn't crazy, but I wouldn't eat that amount of fat in one meal.

I would also say that I used to always eat healthy food but in large quantities in one sitting and this sounds like me a year ago. It didn't do me any favours and I feel better now I have more energy and feel much less bloated as I have managed to get on top of it.

Just get some Tupperware and store what you don't eat!

I've just read your second post and I think that there being one left in the packet seems like that's the reason more than appetite. As you are trying to get a balance between bingeing and being very restrictive it might help to consider what has led you to feel like you can't leave a bit in the packet. I say this because I have had the same problems and have to consciously avoid doing that too but now I'm managing that for the last year or so it's really helping.

The rest of your day sounds great and you are choosing a good balance of healthy food with the occasional small treat so well done. You seem like you're almost there and your sister should be more mindful of the way she says things like that.

No I wouldnt say that was a lot I would say 3 battered fish from the fish shop, chips, scraps and a breadcake would be a lot.
I bet you wont be able to look at a mackerel fillet for years afterwards though.

Mulch · 31/12/2017 19:43

Thanks for all the kind replies, I lost abit of weight this year and now just trying to be normal whatever that is. House still faintly smells of mackerel so not very popular here at the moment
